My Son , a Sailor Yeoman E5 was there, but is now in D.C. I know he misses his brothers in The Atlantic Fleet. a big Hoo Yah To them boys up in that 785.

I was ships company on the Theodore Roosevelt from 86 when she was commissioned to 1990, right before the Gulf War brewed up. I spent 4 years based there in Norfolk. We of course used the carrier berths at the far end of the base. Luckily there was a McDonalds just across the road. Don't know if it's still there, but it was handy. Out at sea the chow was top shelf. But in port, lunch may have been cold cuts and an open loaf of bread. Basically they kept you from starving.

No it’s a troop transport/equipment carrier. Though she can still pack a punch if she’s threatened.

@@seanpruitt6801 Thank you Sean. She looks quite formidable I must say. Has provision for helicopter landings on her stern I noticed. I assume that she carries surface to surface and surface to air missile systems. Nice lines on her also. Thanks for the info. Regards.

@@NickPenlee I’m a sucker for a good aircraft carrier. And I truly believe they are one of the biggest assets this country has. So I’m glad they are investing in more. When someone says the Ford class sucks yes it did because it had major technical issues but they are fixed.

@@seanpruitt6801 An expensive fix for an expensive vessel. Carriers are the main stay in any modern navy aren't they; indispensable actually. It's only the US who can afford the huge operational costs. The 2 British carriers are quite a bit smaller.
