The proof of Genocide can been seen in the ongoing bodycount of women and children, and the outright confessions of the ones filling those bodybags. What is the reason for a judicial system of providing additional proofs to a clearly understood situation? This example of the judicial system, seems to be a tool that is used to assist the guilty in continued aggression, while waiting for the paperwork to be collected as proof.

I agree it is frustrating. KZbin creator "BadEmpanada" makes a good case for why "genocide" shouldn't have been created in addition to war crimes that already existed covering similar atrocities. The main differences are that genocide has the extra burden of "intent," and the perpetrator receives a label it doesn't want. However, the punishment is the same, there is no additional benefit with more severe penalties. A further undesirable complication with charges of genocide rather than just war crimes is that the charge of genocide is more political in nature. It is the politics that makes it so hard to achieve justice. It is beyond my expertise to judge whether BadEmpanada is correct, but he puts forth a thought-provoking argument. @celeritasc9207 Yes, it is frustrating. Not as much the actions being undertaken with only politics being delt, but the fact that a system of conduct is followed without questions to the rules that have built its design. It is a process built to slow down the end results.

@@adriandunkin8544 Yes, it is very slow. But the one advantage it is supposed to have is the obligation for all signatories of the Genocide Convention to act to prevent it. That is supposed to be quick. The fact that this is not happening has potential to undermine the South African case. The BadEmpanada video used the Bosnian genocide to illustrate this. The name of his video is misleading, he is not saying there wasn't a genocide. The geopolitics and mental gymnastics used to achieve not-guilty verdicts were shameful. The geopolitics, in this case, are at least a 1000 fold more complex and powerful. It will be an uphill battle, that is for sure.

One, a 30 year old Canadian man apparently inspired to join the Canadian military because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine was utterly incapable of seeing any parallels between the two conflicts. The other, an early 30s practicing American Jewish man. Unfortunately, it's not so obvious. Between propaganda peddled on social media, the US state department, years of indoctrination, and the mainstream western media doing it's best to provide apologia for the Israeli government, the truth is buried and muddled to such an extent we don't even know what it is. In the modern age, it's not enough to simply misinform. There is such an abundance of information that it can be difficult even for intelligent and well studied individuals to know what's real and what isn't. What killed me about these two men I spoke with was that they held nominally progressive beliefs in almost every other aspect of politics. I almost became this type of man myself. The system is churning out people like this.

Because of that, the UN, as an extension of its most powerful members, cannot be counted on to be the one to enact sanction.
