Yes, cruising the Welland was easy, unless you get stuck in the canal when there is a dock workers strike. That happened to us in 1962. Dad had to cross picket lines and get a ride to a grocery to get more food as were we stuck for 3 days in the canal. The strike did screw up Dad's vacation timing, so we didn't get to complete the loop from Buffalo via the Welland canal, and the Trent Severn waterway and back via Detroit and Lake Erie back home to at Buffalo. But the canal was quite interesting.

Am I the only one who would like to know if there is a toll for the canal? And if so how much?
@3dozerbuild3 жыл бұрын
A couple hundred dollars for the Welland canal. The 8 seaway locks are about $20-$25 per lock and the American locks are cash only and the Canadians are card/ only

@@3dozerbuild The Welland Canal is entirely in Canada. There are NO American locks.

@@jimkoval4725 It's possible that He's saying about the Erie Canal, which also has locks. Alot of the Erie Canal follows the Mohawk River and goes throught New York State.

Is there some charge for recreational boats?
@EfficientRVer2 жыл бұрын
About $200 Canadian total, for those 8 locks. Up to 300 tons recreational, above that commercial rates.
