Randi, Thank you so very much for creating this video. I am making a set of Ditty Bags for my daughter for Mother’s Day. I’m using a collection of fabrics that she loves but I can only get it in 10” squares. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find this particular fabric collection on the bolt. Therefore, I will have to quilt the pieces individually. I thought I had seen in another video somewhere about cutting each piece a little larger than the pattern called for before quilting due to shrinkage, but haven’t been able to locate the video to confirm. So the timing of your video is impeccable. Along with all of the other great information in this video. Thank You Again & Happy Sewing!

Thank you Randi. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the "Schematic" parts breakdown that you included with your Slow Along. Not having that in previous projects has really slowed down by bag making process when working on any of the byAnnie patterns. I can't imagine that offering a "Birds Eye View" with the newer pattern videos would be better than offering a diagram like your "schematic" sheets . . .I hope I am wrong.
@randisroost

ByAnnie would like to include schematic photos with every pattern, but they already have a hard time keeping the page count low enough to keep costs down and avoid overcomplicating the publishing process. I think the Bird Eye Views are pretty awesome.

No reason to be embarrassed. Do you think everyone magically knows this stuff? Most of us learned it by trial and error. 🙃

Oof, sorry. 😐 You make lovely projects, though. You might consider selling one of your creations. It would certainly cover the cost of several patterns. Just a thought. 😊

Second time to watch and missed a lot of info the first time. Will watch again later to see what I missed this time. Randi, thank you for putting this on. Will you also put attaching the slider on the handle permanently? I am going to watch your slow along videos again and see what I missed! Thank you.

Randi, this is so helpful. Thank you. I have a brain block when it comes to measuring and cutting. I get confused by width x length. Which way does Annie want me to cut? Drives me crazy.

I find it helpful to draw a little diagram of the project, label it, and color it. Doesn't need to be fine art- just enough to help me think it through. Maybe that will help you as well?

Loved this video….as a rule, when you talk about directional fabric and getting more than you need, that is very vague. In your experience how much more do you buy? 1/4, 1/2 yard more?
@randisroost

It really depends on the fabric.

Great video. It would be really helpful if the patterns came with a diagram showing where all the pieces go. I made the A place for everything and had no idea what the “side” piece was…..turns out it was the bottom. It would be super helpful for picking the fabrics. I’m a huge Tula fan and love to have different accent pieces. Thanks for the consideration. 😊

The newest patterns include a Bird's Eye View as part of the Add-On Video. This works like a schematic and shows "what goes where".

Thanks for clarifying height by width. That is completely opposite of how my brain works coming from the print publishing industry (i.e., 8 1/2 x 11 paper). Working to retrain my brain for my upcoming projects.

I've always thought of things as width x height, too. It's a brain exercise, for sure.
