Sailing in Europe’s Most Expensive Location (Sardinia) Ep. 14

Ahoy :) In this video, we are still in Sardinia on the Costa Smeralda and are finally able to set foot on land after the strong winds we had (see last episode). We go for a beautiful walk in the national park, say goodbye to our anchorage neighbours Dilbar (longest super yacht in the world) and then sail down to Cala di Volpe, and soon realise how exclusive this whole area is. We later found out it’s the most expensive location in Europe, and is where many celebrities and millionaires come on vacation. Lars has a look at our Cetrek autopilot in the cockpit locker and we get fed up of the wake from the motorboats and make our way to another anchorage further down the coast. We enjoy the scenery and good weather, and although we have a rolly trip down to our next anchorage, the incredible mountains and coastline make up for it.

@@NavikaSailing well since I’ve spent my holidays around that neck of the woods since I was 3, everything is kinda mythical… but for starters, there’s the story of the King of Tavolara. Excerpt from the BBC: “While collecting photographs of world leaders, Queen Victoria commissioned a British naval vessel to stop by the island so that officers could photograph Tavolara’s “royal family”. For years, the gold-framed photo was displayed in Buckingham Palace with the caption “World’s Smallest Kingdom”. “ - it’s a mystical island in more ways than one 🤩

Just catching up on your great videos. I see you working in your “lockpit” somewhat in the dark. Suggestion is to wire some led lights into that space as well as the engine bay area. Not my idea but I did it and it makes working in that space so much easier!!!

Never feel out of place when among all of the super yachts. Those onboard are nothing more than passengers ... you are sailing. Plus over the years I have found billionaires to very nice. I once showed a billionaire how to change the oil on a small yanmar, a couple beers later and he was a real crackup.
