National independence is important. Liberal democracy works best in the context of a nation state, I believe. There is very little accountability in EU governance. UK MPs can be/often are shit, but they can also be given the boot by their constituents.

I feel sure we will notice when our government invests in green technologies instead of awarding fresh contracts to oil companies. But most of all, I feel sure we will notice when our government stops having culture wars, stops blaming the poor, the sick and the needy for all the problems it has caused and actually tries to help people.
