Installing Apple CarPlay In My Lexus 2IS |Grom VLine

This was a major upgrade for the car. I love how the car does not look any different from original so you can not tell that it is not original. I also love how you still have all original features in the car.

For the silver pieces where you used the metal pry tool, I wouldn’t recommend that, they’re actually quite simple to get off with no tools what so ever, if you grab at the very end closest to the center arm rest all you have to do it pull up slightly and pull back and they come off, this keeps all the tabs in place with very little effort, just a helpful tip for you or anyone doing this job that doesn’t have a pry tool.

Well I ordered the Vline. I had to take the radio out to fix the digitizer anyway. That was tough but doable. Man that radio is heavy. Two person job for me. I was so careful taking that center vent out but still dinged the dash. Also tweaked that center vent but fixed it. Its still out waiting for the Vline. It should be here in a few days. You talked me into it. Vline should pay you.

That looks clean. I looked into wireless apple car play devices and seem there is not a good one yet. All of them are very similar and have syncing issues from when I was looking to get one.

The VLine VL2 system supports wireless CarPlay as well as wired, there is no need to use any adapters to get wireless functionality.

I was looking for options to update de oem radio but for my preference I think I will go a radio replacement that is a big touch screen similar to a tesla screen and eliminates de cd player and some buttons

@@NavsGarage hey, glad too see you finally went for the Vline Grom. Lucky your car came with the nav unit unlike mine. It's a pain to try and retrofit them, but using the Vline Grom means you get far better audio quality than any 3rd party aftermarket head unit. Hope its been good for you!

@@georgekallely7103 honestly, I just mounted an android tablet to the dash and ran it through aux with a ground loop noise filter. barely costed me 30$ and I have 2 displays now. It's a nexus 7 2012 so its old and needs upgraded to something newer but it runs cfw, and runs cracked spotify and I can view my dashcam live off it. Id recommend that than a 700$ phone buddy mod. I just use my phone to tether data to it.

@@IIdankII honestly that's fair, and you probably could pull that off use one of those AliExpress Android head units made for this car. (Assuming you can find a ROM and maintain the stock software for the AC). But yeah the vline keeps it"OEM" if you know what I mean. With that being said, would I be able to see what your head unit looks like? Did you use the din converter kit for the IS?

audio is the same as it was before. There is no downgrade. As far as wireless applecart play, I have not yet had time to look at it but they claim that it is a part of the system.

The thing is yes Vline 2 has Apple carplay however that's just 1/3 of the Vline abilities. It's basically an android box so you can have almost any app you have on your phone. So Netflix, obd display etc It does help if you have the facelift car as the screen resolution will be better

Found on my research of after market infotainment systems is sound quality. The GROM systems keep the original sound quality.

@@NavsGarage might get lucky finding one in good condition at a car lot. The older 2IS models had the cracking problems more often I think. My 2011 is clean so it may be an updated material
