PHILLIPINE SEA (Feb. 2, 2021) U.S. Marines from Force Reconnaissance Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), utilize combat rubber raiding crafts to board the Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Ohio (SSGN 726), while deployed in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations, during an integration exercise off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. The exercise was part of ongoing III MEF-U.S. 7th Fleet efforts to provide flexible, forward-postured, and quick-response options to regional commanders. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Recon Marines served aboard the USS Perch (ASSP-313), a WWII-era diesel submarine retrofitted to carry Navy Underwater Demolition Teams and Recon Marines. Whenever the boat was to dive, the 1MC (PA system) would announce "DIVE! DIVE!", followed by the sound of the diving klaxon: "AHUGA!" In 1953 or 1954, while on a conditioning run, former Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps John R. Massaro, while serving as company Gunnery Sergeant of 1st Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion, simulated the "Dive" horn sound "AHUGA!" as part of the cadence.

Legend has it, he took it with him when he went to serve as an instructor at the Drill Instructor school at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. He there passed it on to the Drill Instructor students and they, in turn, passed it on to their recruits where it eventually and naturally became a part of the Recon cadence, and thereafter infiltrated Recon Marine lexicon.[4] Over time, "AHUGA!" morphed into the shorter, simpler "Oo Rah!" Today, the official Marine Corps Training Reference Manual on the history of Marine Recon is titled "AHUGA!"

very nice. was this a submarine boarding exersice? or just an exersice for piloting those rubber boats in general?

It's weird to see an Ohio class boat carrying only a single DDS. Did they not build anymore DDS to allow more twin carry with the SSGNs? When it was KAMEHAMEHA and POLK as the former SSBNs turned into DDS platforms, we typically carried two. Now there are four SSGN/DDS-capable subs, but no increase in capacity to carry two Dry Deck Shelters?

Not bad ... but what would be badass would be to see 10-15 guys flying along in formation on jet packs, or in 2-man autonomous flown drones, or at the least, some Star Warz looking 3-man enclosed all-weather Jet skis : D
