Oh man, I wish we had video like this back in the day (EOD 10-B-97). I would have known what was happening above me! Haha. You aren't allowed to look up from the bottom of the pool when they are doing hits during pool week. Sometimes I would swim in circles for over an hour without getting hit (literally). All you could hear was bubbles. After a while you learn to listen for the sound of the beep when the instructor sets the time on their watch...then the fun begins. Hooyah!

How bad is being thrown around in the water. And do they teach you how to use the scuba stuff before messing you all up?
@devonjp12334 жыл бұрын
Yes they teach you how to dive before they toss you around. And it's not bad. Probably one of the cooler parts of school looking back.

What are the chances of a female making it through dive school?
@devonjp12336 жыл бұрын
Aundrea Cozad same chances as a guy. There was a girl in our class and she did well. All that matters is how much you want it and if you have what it takes you'll make it
@Accidental_Medicine6 жыл бұрын
We actually had one female in our class, and the class behind us had one too. It's all a state of mind.

Just think about it if you trained to fight underwater oh, you know what to protect, and if you get proficient at it you able to Fight 2 3 4 5 people in the water, so you coming to recover a lost missile that we don't want the enemy to have the avionics 2 and 1 diver, beats off five or six divers because he knows how to fight underwater and that's what I like about this video, you don't expect nobody to jump in the water and take your oxygen

I have a question. When those instructors are essentially thrashing you guys around obviously your not aloud to panic or hit them but like do you have to move them or just surface wait it out or stay calm. And also thank you for your service.
@devonjp12334 жыл бұрын
For the pool hits they rough you up for about a minute or so and then back off and you fix it. You absolutely can't touch the instructors, or go to surface. You just stay calm wait for it to be over and fix you problem and continue swimming

Hey I want to know bc I wanted to go welding underwear for my future so how can I find the place to go for learning about welding underneath for navy?
@devonjp12334 жыл бұрын
So navy divers don't do much underwater welding anymore. I think Seabee divers do more but most of the welding work for the navy gets contracted out

Any tips for when instructors do the pool hits, I leave January with an eod contract
@devonjp12336 жыл бұрын
bubba5497 pool hits are nothing to worry about man you'll be fine. In fact it's fair to say that pool hits one of the most fun times in dive school haha
@bubba54976 жыл бұрын
devon Jp123 okay sweet, now they always cut the video after they close the air valve and push you around. I'm assuming you then have to recover your regulator and turn your air back on
@devonjp12336 жыл бұрын
bubba5497 yeah the hit takes about 20 seconds and then a few minutes of the diver fumbling around to put everything back together so they don't usually show it in videos cause it's not that exciting haha but yeah there's a whole bunch of procedures you do to get everything ready again
@bubba54976 жыл бұрын
devon Jp123 okay one more question I promise how long are you typically holding you breath for this evolution
@devonjp12336 жыл бұрын

Just Living so the first 4 weeks you do a combination of calisthenics and learning about maintenance that applies to divers and then the last 2 weeks is pool week where you pretty much get the shit beat out of you with water adaptability tests like treading and iwps and stuff
