As a reservist, this guy's idea cost the Israeli government a lot of money and was an idea without prior knowledge or planning. After Egypt destroyed the Hamas tunnels with the help of water, Hamas learned how to prevent the collapse of tunnels with the help of water and upgraded their system to withstand this threat. This idea was tested in the field and was a complete failure. Consume your knowledge responsibly and not after people who think they are "experts".

The money we send to Israel is the least of our worries, and again, what is the point of an ally if we don't help. And if you say we shouldn't have allies, go look at my 1st point. 3) Look around at all the anti Israel protests. These people hate America and our freedoms. They burn our flag and replace it with a Palestinian flag. There are sects of Islam that are very dominant in the middle east that belives the world needs to submit to Islam or be killed. They openly talk about the plan to destroy the west and convert or kill everyone. And you see what they are doing in Europe and here in America. They have been indoctrinating kids in universities for decades and Israel is the only ally who lives in the middle east and understands how they think and is at the front lines fighting this ideology but America ties its hands behind its back. Several things from an israeli (who also worked in the US for 5 yrs and has the utmost repect to it): 1. Water in the tunnels: they tried it. Didn't work 2. US financial ssistance to Israel: very much appreciated. That's first thing. But you shold also note the following: *cheaper than putting more US forces in the region (which the US might do otherwise, since it does in fact has interests in the region *all US military aid money must be spent by Isreal buying only from the US, so it is a way for the US government to support its industry *a free place for the US to test amd develop military technology and tactics. *intel and tech from Isreal So, this is a partnership. Isreal is a minor partner of the US. Each side gets something. And, we also on fact share common values. I deeply respect the US for these shared values. While we have those shared values, isreal does not get free meals however -- it is a partnership. Based on shared vlaues as well. God bless America, we respect you guys.

The reason the Americans needs allies is because their allies are usually not the target. Apart from Israel, Taiwan and South Korea, the NATO countries have less enemies than the US does. Every hostile regime and terrorist organization are mostly interested in hurting the US. They are not really interested in attacking Germany, Belgium, Spain or Canada. That is why having a network of allies is beneficial to both the US and their allies even if everyone is contributing in their own measure because it strengthens the stature of the US and the West as a whole and you always need more allies than enemies anyway.
