Between 1992 and 2013, Jason spent 11 years as an enlisted Navy SEAL and 10 years as a SEAL Officer leading SEAL teams in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. On September 13, 2007, outside Fallujah, Iraq, he was severely wounded and nearly killed when his Assault Team came under heavy machine-gun and small-arms fire during an enemy ambush. I’m paralyzed but the happiest I’ve ever been! My spine is fused from T4 to L2 which is basically my whole back, with chronic pain. Multiple spinal surgeries also revealed tethered cord syndrome. I was prescribed fentanyl and oxycodone for 11 years, no savings, can’t work because my pain is too distracting. I began to simply saying allowed “I’m grateful for my eyesight etc. I just said all kinds of things I notice I do have and my life changed. I tried walking again, I used a walker and kept trying every day. “Move it or lose it” kept repeating in my head. While my life and my attitude was drastically improving I finally got approved for disability insurance, I bought a huge motorhome bus, rescued a dog. I now walk over a mile with just a cane every day! I’ve been traveling at my pace for 2.5 years now and I haven’t taken any opiates for 3 years! I meditate, eat healthy and enjoy the freedom of exploring with my doggie, “Tigger” he’s 6.9lbs with a brindle coat with tiger stripes! Counting what we do have replaces what we don’t have! Never give up!

Shaun Burke Every morning say out loud 3 simple things to be grateful for and I promise you your happiness will grow. Everything begins with a seed and will grow when you “feed” it. Gratitude began a whole new life for me. I was so brainwashed to say negative things to myself and point out how things in life sucked. Now I can honestly say that my accident is the best thing that ever happened to me

If you’re reading this, I'm happy you’re alive. I’m happy that we all get to experience this life together. It gets hard. It makes you question your purpose. You may even think that the world is better off without you. But you saw my comment for a reason. This is your sign to keep pushing, because I know you were looking for one. Your existence matters. Keep going on your journey. It doesn’t end here❤

He is the first one who answered a question I've long wondered about. When someone asks "How are you doing?" and you have had difficult times....Do you answer how you feel or answer what they want to hear. The answer is all about where your mind is taking you. I'm doing great.

This old saying came back to me when he said he was looking for a point man. That two minds are better than one. Seeing the mistakes are better spotted by the second person. We seldom see our own flaws in our own thinking and need that second person and maybe more to find a solution to the problem.

I'm saving this video. My Husband , Who was a ietnam Vet, died from comications due to Agent Orange a little less than two years ago. I have had several other things happen that people tell me are insurmountable. Or would be for them. I know exactly what you mean when you talk about "getting off the X" . This man overcame incredible odds. That is a given. After so many extreme things in a person's life, you make a choice. You get up, or at least try to with everything in your being, or you give up. Some times you give up temporarily, but you rally. I don't know HOW or SHAT got me through the earlier things. I DO know that my sweet Husband, Father to our kids, and Papa to our Grandkids used to tell me " It's not the end, until it IS the end". He lived 11 months from the day of diagnosis. He put his shoulders and his mind in the harness, and plowed forward. In the end, he had 5 good months before he died. He chose to LIVE during those 5 months. His dying changed our family in many ways. He was STILL their rock. Still their example of how to LIVE. Recently, I've been looking in the mirror. Wondering what now? For me, personally, what now? This gave me some crucial perspective on that question. I thank you for having him speak on your podcast. I thank him for continuing v to show people like me, how to get off that "X", in a more constructive way.

33:40 I am not in the military and only after hearing the story about him meeting the helicopter pilots who saved his life did it really click as to why so many soldiers have a deep respect for other soldiers. It’s just crazy to think that you may never know or meet the most important person that you ever crossed paths with. It kind of made me think about what it would be like to be apart of an activity as large and intense as a war. It’s like a corporation that would have millions of employees who are all apart of a giant life or death project. It’s just interesting to think you may be talking to the person who saved your life without knowing. Although that could happen in normal life too, you really haven’t a clue of what forces really go on around you. The random actions of others can easily change your life. It’s tough to think anyone is really in “control” of their life, when their life is effected by the actions of others.

Pure gold. Worth ever minute. Thank-you Sir. PS - in my own struggles and working through my own personal crises, I have searched and searched for the 'formula' and have come to the same conclusion time and again, * adopting a positive mindset is the foundation of everything else needed for success. Period. The thing is .. I had to figure this out for myself First, or this interview would not nearly have had the same impact on me , which was to feel a resounding and overwhelming - YES, that's right !!! (the alternative is to lose to the enemy - which is you). The second impact this incredible story has for me lays in the SEAL team members, the medics, the guys on the helicopter, the doctors, his wife - wow - that's a lot of positive energy right there and a great message about how we are part of a fabric of relationships that resonates with positivity and also about the importance of positive reflection (gratitude) as a foundation for hope. Thanks again for sharing this amazing story.

I agree with what you’re saying having a victim conscious is never healthy not for the one participating in this intellectual turmoil nor for the people around. What I would like to understand is HOW does one continue when the system they find themselves in continuously creates circumstances (outside of the so called victims’ control) that validates or even further creates victim consciousness. How does one wrap their arms around the very corruption that authoritative governments, organizations continue to create? So what you just run away from that system because I’m just one person. These talk shows do they really make a dent or create movement for these bigger issues. I mean I can reach out speak out, comment, educate myself, exercise, eat healthy, meditate, blah blah blah… but when 14+ years go by and this world looks down on me as a brown woman and treats me like a garbage can… how do we stop that??? I know I’m deserving and have worked hard and the actions of authorities do not in any way reflect my values or sense of morality or ethics, and NO I’m not a victim and I’m worthy but what about the pink elephant in the room that no ones wants to discuss???? You guys get on these talk shows and talk about wonderful things but where is the actual change in the world? I’m really not sure what to believe anymore.

What a hero. brave navy seals♥ I wished i had joined the military for at least a year after finishing my secondary school. would have learned so much for my life. would have managed it better. I am also on the axe .after i got damaged by dentists, who destroyed my teeth /jaw and health. they are still to blame they make from a total non issue a major to chronic issue. Trying to overcome in country with poorly updated medics. Managing my mouth when angry..:)) guilty. I will address the wrong doing and omissions to the doctor because I have carefully evaluated it.

I understand the dynamic and the thought process I guess in thinking positive in that one has full capability to not sit in a victim mentality. I want to point out however there has been so much trauma systemically and generationally that is been perpetuated by governmental interference and it's really taking its toll on the people and that's where we're finding ourselves at right now in these days! Truths are coming out.. and so fears are coming up. We're starting to see what's really been going on so being a victim to some extent and at a minimum should be acknowledged. We start to heal, the moment we feel heard! I'm a victim of the family court system and of coercive control in a domestic abuse dynamic for over 9 years and there's no help right...So in court judiciaries have no oversight and thus no accountability nor responsibility. They pretty much can do what they want, say what they want, dehumanize you, demoralize you, criminalize. Strip you of your rights, your voice, your choice and your child! There are victims out here that are hurting and when I say hundreds of thousands I mean it it's Global...

Great podcast.. taken much from it because . Been dwelling for long in a situation , I want to address my wrongdoers and since i have not finished the letters i seem to suffer over and over while i want to be done with it. but talking to a psychologist wont help because i need to say what i need to say to the mal practitioners
