I absolutely love suits, but to insinuate that folk that don't dress specifically like this are "sloppy" isn't exactly fair. There's lots of styles and lots of cultures, each with their own ideas and ideals of what getting dressed up nice is.

My husband chose to wear a lighter blue suit and then pink accessories for one of the official wedding colors. He wore it with brown shoes. It looked nice next to the eucalyptus green dresses I had the girls wear. The wedding colors were greens, creams, and pinks.

@@nattylite9220 TYSM! 🥰 My ultimate goal was to keep things organic looking and natural. I found a florist who grew most of the flowers herself with some native species tossed in there too. She only ordered things she couldn’t grow herself. I don’t have the official list in front of me but the bouquets had white flowers, pink flowers, and then the leafy greens to tie it in.

We did something similar for ours! We wanted to combine our favorite colors so it was dark blue and burgundy for him and blush pink and sage green for me with accents of gold :)

Ooo! That sounds LOVELY!!! You might appreciate this then--for our upcoming wedding my fiance is wearing a tan/tweed suit, with a sky blue dress suit. I'm wearing an ethereal gown of my own making that's a base of gold/bordeaux dupioni with layers of off-white organza overlaying that has delicate colored floral bunches scattered all over.

For my first professional job as a 22yoin the 90's, I went to Nordstrom's and told the salesman and woman in the Men's department I had a $3,000 budget and to "dress me". They were tickled to death to do it. Wonderful experience.

Ok, it's not just me. My mom always said hem the trousers to the top of the shoe for both men and women. The socks should not show. I always thought this was a classic and tailored look. Please update me if I'm wrong. Thanks everyone!

It's often not a choice. I had to practically fight my tailor to hem my pants shorter. The traditional look is supposed to buckle lightly at the shoe. The European standard is no buckle, and the modern standard is to not fully touch the shoe and show off ankle. I've even had custom clothing made for me, and it's still too big! Tailoring is an older profession, so many of these people just don't keep up with modern trends.

Pink an Blue just look so good together. A medium blue would look good with Shell pink. Light blue and pastel pink are great for late spring.

Could you explain why you advise not to match your tie to your pocket square? I've never heard that advice before!

Mm it's not really a hard and fast rule, it's just the difference between someone who is advanced in styling and someone who is a beginner. A matching pocket square usually come together with the tie and beginners in styling usually put those two together. Beginners usually stick to the rules when learning and it's a good thing because learning the foundation is a good idea. But people who are more advanced get more adventurous, they know the rules and then they break them selectively, as in "I don't need to match the tie, but the pocket square should have some harmony with my outfit".
