Islam was mainly divided into two branches Shia and Sunni. Sunni Islam is dominant and comprises 85% of the 2 Billion Muslim population, while Shia comprises 15%. This division occurred right after the death of the Prophet Muhammad in 632 AD on the issue of his succession.
Sunni Islam is divided further into 4 branches. Hanfi, Maliki, Shafi and Hanbali. The Hanfi sect is named after Imam Abu Hanifa, born in Iraq in 699 AD. Similarly, Imam Malik, Shafii, and Hanbali were born in 711, 767, and 780 AD respectively.

Do we not have some noble people during the time of the Prophet (s.a.w.) who had these names, like 'Uthman ibn Madh'un (r.a.), etc. Especially when we have some narrations that Imam Ali (a.s.) had mentioned this. The same we can say about the name 'Umar.even if imam ali did name his son 'Umar, the name itself is not a bad name. And there are numerous good people who had that name, like 'Umar ibn Abi Salamah. As for Abu Bakr, this is a kunyah, and it's not established that Imam Ali (a.s.) certainly named one of his sons by this name. If in this era, someone names their son Usamah, it does not mean they love Bin Laden, or if an Italian was to name their daughter Madonna (Medieval Italian name of Mary), then it does not mean they love the singer Madonna. GET YOUR INFORMATION CORRECT!!! There is no 4 divisions in Sunni 😂😂. Those are different schools of thoughts. There are only sects in Islam which people create for their own benefits from the main stream Islam. And yes, there are more than 10 sects right now in Islamic World which I know of, all of which are tiny minority. Whom have been clearly categorised as Deviants (including Shiasm) from the Correct Islamic Religion by the Consensus of Sunni Scholars all over the globe.

For all the people who are talking about the sects in sunni Islam, it is only the change in jurisprudence and not the actual belief, which there is no God but Allah and prophet SAW us his messenger, Additionally Imam Malik was the student of Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Shafi’i was the student of Imam Malik, Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal was the student of Imam Shafi’i also Imam Shafi’i learnt from Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal due to his huge knowledge of hadith. So they were all related, they all agreed that their words can be changed except for the words of Allah and his messenger. Following a different madhab doesn’t mean you are going astray or only one madhab is correct, it is only difference of jurisprudence which is from the mercy of Allah (SWT) to make it easy for us. Arguing and fighting about madhab is not a solution nor means of getting to truth, on the contrary the madhab’s are tolerant and tranquil with each other, one such example was when Imam Shafi’i prayed in the style of Imam Abu Hanifa (again only difference in jurisprudence like where to keep the hand while standing and etc) in respect for him because it was the day he died or he visited his grace (don’t quote me on that since I’m not sure. Another example is when scholars from the Hanafi madhab went to meet Shafi’i scholars, the Hanafi scholars while going to meet them agreed to say,”Ameen” loudly during prayer (they usually say it quietly), while the Shafi’i scholars agreed to say it quietly during prayer (they usually say it loudly) and guess what, during prayer the Hanafi Imams said,”Ameen” loudly while the Shafi’i scholars said it quietly. This is called co-existence through acceptance and understanding that the fundamentals of the religion is not changed. I will not speak about deobandi, barelvi, and wahabi since I don’t have much knowledge about them. Now as for Shia people, they pray 3 times a day, do temporary marriages, say that Imam Mahdi is in some cave in iraq since the time of Ali(RA) for over a thousand years, it is considered shirk by many scholars. For now I will stop and please let me know if I have done a mistake in any of the text above

The Islam is will be divided into seventy-three sects, as the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, and the saved one is one sect: the one that followed the method of the Prophet, and the method of his companions. A scholar said: As for seventy-two, among them are disbelievers, among them are the sinners, and among them are the innovators in danger. (Like Shia now innovators things not mentioned in Quran nor Hadith)
