It's absolutely useless and always has been. It's just the scripting overriding the general commands no matter the situation. When a badge is activated it doesn't take into account the entire situation, it just pings the processor to stop the movements of one player or the other. That's why when you play it always feels like you're weighted down it situations that don't make sense. Even if there's balance the code is picking a choosing which commands for the processor to follow. Skill is probably at this point 20% of the game. You wouldn't even need badges if 2k improved the players freedom of movement.
