If you think about it, the in-season tournament is as valid as any playoff series... You win a round, you move on; you lose, you go home and better luck next year. If we talk about player stats in the tournament, Playoff games are not used to calculate stats per season... However, there's minimal history of in-season tournaments to compare performances or to use them as measures of greatness. Why can't we (NBA fans) just enjoy a competitive basketball game is beyond me 🤷‍♂

NBA cup final doesnt count for record because they schedule the 82 game season for each team before the season. The cup final participants are determined after, so it would be an 83rd game on the schedule, and would potentially penalize the losing team for doing well in the prior cup games.
