I know some will go crazy with anger over tis but me personally minus the fact Malone had far more longevity to his career, in their primes I consider Charles Barkley a more dominate player. This isn't a condemnation against the Mailman, Barkley imo was a more dominate player, he also didn't have the luxury of having John Stockton throughout 90% of his career.

I saw him play from 1991 and onwards, and I saw him as a rival to MJ, simply because he and the Suns went against the Bulls in the 93 Finals. Glad that the Bulls accomplished three peat, but looking back, he was at height of a 2-guard playing power forward, being able to outplay a guard to a center on both ends. Unique player, one of the precursors in playing position-less basketball. One of the greatest to ever play, rings or not.

I'll never forget a game I saw back in the early 90's with Barkley. The Bullets (before they became the Wizards) were playing the 76ers in Baltimore and had a comfortable 14 point lead at halftime. Barkley only had around 7 points for the half. Second half they basically put the game in Sir Charles hands and the 76ers won by 4--Barkley finished with 32 points. Wes Unseld--(who was the HC of the Bullets back then)--was quoted as saying: "When he makes up his mind to score nobody can stop him." That quote is the perfect summation of how good Barkley was in his peak years.

I remember liking him and hating him. What I can not deny in either of my feelings towards him is that he was an amazing talent to watch play. If shooting socks in the hamper had you yelling out "Jordan!" Then, moving through a crowd of people or overpowering anything had you yelling out "Barkley!" He was, the other side of fame, hype, and highlights to Jordan. Imo. Far greater than Shaq as a player imo.

I watched him throughout his NBA career starting at Auburn U. Pound for pound the strongest, toughest NBA player, zero fear, while he struck fear into opponents. People asked why he didn't win a championship ring, well when you have to go through the Celtics stacked teams with Larry Bird, a stacked Detroit team with Rodman, Lambier, John Sally, and eventually those Bulls and Knicks teams of the 90s, it was hard sledding for Sir Charles. He is in my top 3 PFs of all time and the player I pick first for that position over Tim Duncan and Karl Malone. Stockton, MJ, Bird, Hakeem/Shaq and Malone/Barkley. "My Dream Team"

We were as shocked as Zeke when "The Round Mound of Rebound" hit the floor, BUT when that game started Barkley was punishing the floor ESPECIALLY on those Fast Breaks!! We football players, at that time, called a big stomach "An out of season Beer Belly". Gotta sweat it out! Barkley definitely showed my Beer Belly Buddies and Myself how to elevate Our game in the paint and Forwad position on "The Black Top" as BIG Guys. 🤜🏿🤛🏿-LAKERS'80-

We remember exactly how good he was. He was in the Clyde Drexler, Dominique Wilkins, Isiah Thomas world of being incredibly good, just not quite inner circle, best of the best, good. McHale was his superior at PF in the 80s and Malone was his superior at the position in the 90s. Shawn Kemp, conversely, had more star power and athleticism, which is all the NBA has given a shit about post becoming a marketing front for Nike in the late 80s.

Barkley's performance against David Robinson is when I took notice of Barkley. Barkley was 6'6 going up against a 7 foot Robinson and Barkley held his own against him. Barkley shot the game winner against Robinson's outstretched hands in gm 6 in the 93 playoffs. I thought Barkley shouldn't of been able to do that and but he nailed it.

Barkley, with no ATG or even HOF with him, was competitive with jordan's bulls. Jordan of course having his fellow top 75 ATG pippen with him. All of the games were decided within a single digit in the 6 games series (4-2). Barkley carried that suns team all the way to the finals and could have won if not for the GOAT standing in his way.

Still more athletic than the guys they say are freaks of nature today. Coast to coast in fewer steps, throwing down dunks while still elevating. Running full speed, dribbling behind the back, or passing, unstoppable on the break. And draymond would get punched out for trying his nut kicking defense on Chuck.
