Ja in his 3rd year was Most Improved Player. Drose in his 3rd year was Most Valuable Player. This already speaks itself. Ja is still getting better tho.

Stats are a little inflated since the pace of the game in 2011 was much slower than 2021 with less possessions (the fastest team in 2011 is as fast as the slowest team in 2021). And Derrick Rose had a considerable impact on the Bulls offense and record.

That's what I can't shake. Ja's an amazing talent but Rose was ahead of his time. If both teams swap one for the other, considering the era you mentioned, I feel Derrick would have even more success than he did. Ja, with all due respect, I'm not so sure without the pace and spacing he's got now. As you mentioned, Derrick carried such a heavy load offensively that if he wasn't on or available the Bulls suffered. If Ja is out or off, and this isn't me saying Ja isn't a great player/invaluable, but the Grizzlies still are very competitive. They complement Ja's skill set to a T.

Even after injury....Rose has outplayed Ja every time they matched up.... Ja mostly scored when Rose wasn't on him... He can't stop Rose period. Now imagine if Derrick never got injured....It took a 3 headed monster to stop him cause nobody else could...Rose was like a 6'2 Jordan....Ja is more like Westbrook...Whom they also compared to Rose....Rose just different

Ja might be the next Drose, but... He's not better than the 'windy city assassin', and Drose is the best in finishing at the rim, his flexibility and athleticism are insane and clutches too.

Right. People get caught up in the athletic ability(Ja might have him in leaping but Derrick was superior everywhere else imo) and make the lazy comparison. Similar but really very different players.

I think Ja is more like a shorter Penny. He has great vision and is more than willing to pass, he slashes between defenders a lot like Penny, Penny had a better mid and long range game, but they both could explode and get lift. And it is impressive that Ja can dominate inside at his size.

@@reggiebanksrb10 i have, I may be older than you but I don't know that. Just because I think Ja is more exciting doesn't mean I haven't watched D rose, that's just my opinion, grow up son. If you watch full grizzlies games you will see they are the most entertaining team in the league, something about them and Ja usually creates 5-8 "ow my god" moments a game. Commentators say "My gosh" the most when Ja plays

Ja only avg 2 more points and 1 more assist than Drose mvp season and Ja had way better teammates and spacing give drose that team and he’s avg 30 and 10. Also Drose would’ve made the finals atleast twice already if lebron wasn’t in front of him, the league was also different 27ppg was the leading scorer (KD) 27ppg in todays nba is barely top 5 it was harder to score back then bcuz all defensive did was play the paint.
