If you look closely he reaches for the ball and clips the guys closer foot but then when he missed the ball he then goes for the other foot which wasnt even near the ball. If he had just reached for the ball like he did as he went down that would've been fine but there was clear intention to grab the other foot.

There’s been a lot said about flopping & big penalties for it, but when a player really does do something to another player what can absolutely hurt them, like grabbing ankles and tripping from behind, they need some big consequences for that too. You could seriously hurt a guy like that. A knee or ankle turned the wrong way could be a torn ligament or worse.

Conclusion. Modern NBA players are either soft or they are liars. A hard foul or tiny little trip or somebody dunking late in the game and the players freak out. I love the NBA but these dudes would last about 30 seconds in other sports. Touch a professional athlete on the foot, one of the best, strongest most agile athletes on earth (or wave your arms near them) and they collapse to the ground and die.
