She was drafted in the 13th round by the Warriors... But the league voided the pick since she was (a) female and b) Just out of high school. Also, Ann Meyers from UCLA was signed by the Pacers in 1980. She signed a $50k contract and she actually practiced with the team that summer, but didn't make the cut.

By the mid-2000s it was becoming more impossible for women to keep up. Griner's date of entry made her incredibly impressive skills with women completely mediocre for men. She's 6'8'', which isn't tall enough in today's game, paired with her jump height would make her under average in almost every area compared to her teammates.
