The reason Ben Kerner sold the Hawksin 1968 to investors from Atlanta , was because he wanted the city to build him a new arena. The teams home arena, the Kiel Auditorium, was showing its age. And the St Louis Arena hadn't been renovated in years. The city politicians refused to help Kerner obtain the funds to build a new arena for the Hawks. So he sold the team to the Atlanta investors.

I lived in west county chesterfield Baldwin area for some years. I’m familiar with the city and in 2024 going to start shooting my next documentary on the sports phenomenon in STL! The city has lost a few teams in the past. The ones not named the cardinals of course haha 🎥💭

Wow! I thought Bobby Bonilla had a good deal. This is amazing. They made out out great. Hope they broke the players off a little something something. I remember my old basketball cards of the ABA. Remember when they best the Nets. It was huge news. A team with Barnes, Lucas and Moses today would be illegal. Add Freddie and Fly Williams and you got a super team. 😅
