I’m amazed by how many long mid range jumpers they attempted. Not because they’re bad shots but because of how today’s league only wants threes and layups.

Back in the day, efficiency was based on distance from the basket. Most players and coaches thought that 3 pt shots were worse shots than mid range shots (except foot on the 3 pt line twos) because they were shot from 22+ feet out. However, mid range shots also keep defenders honest instead of only defending the 3 point arc or the paint. Nearly every star perimeter player from the 2000s had an elite mid range game, even solid guys like Rip Hamilton and Sam Cassell had one.
