tas I was also curious about the bucks’ trade aggregation. it was reported as one trade but it was actually two - kuz for middleton and baldwin jr for johnson. doing it that way matched the salaries

The Mavs trading Luka may be shocking and headline worthy news but in the long run it's bad for the league, especially casual fans. Imagine coming back to the league every few weeks or months and seeing all the players moved around. I would feel overwhelmed and like nothing mattered. The stories behind sports matter, the struggle before triumph, the pain before reaching the mountain top. The ability to find meaning even if players never reached their goals ala Reggie Miller. This Luka trade flies in the face of everything good about sports, players should have right to move and live and play in the cities and organisations they want. But I can't help but feel like Luka winning a championship with the Lakers or the Mavs winning a championship in the near future feels so much more meaningless than if Luka won the chip with the Mavs

Skeets is right, BI's contract is the key but maybe Masai sees this as a potential rehabilitation season for Ingram. He'll sign him to a shorter deal and trade him when his value is built back up. Other than that it makes no sense.

The thing people overlook with the Lakers is that they’ve got plenty of youngish players on the roster. They don’t have first round picks for a long time but Reaves, Vando, Williams, Rui, (their next inevitable 2nd round steal like Christie) etc can be flipped for picks at a later date

Just FYI Tas. Germany beat the US in the Semi Finals to win the Gold against Serbia in the Finals in the 2023 World Cup. So Theis did beat the US.

44:54 I agree with Tas, I was confused that the Bucks didn’t do a 1:1 trade and one justification was that they’re under the 2nd apron now and don’t have to do 1:1 trades. Is it like the draft pick thing where it only applies for repeat offenders?

I also throw Keith Smith to your NBA trade battles. His "nba front office" youtube/podcast is awesome to help understand all the trade rules etc. and he is the man (or one of) behind spotrac. He usually does more deep dives on trades instead of breaking them but when there has been trade in the middle of their show he can always straight tell that "ok, this is salary dump from the team a who want to do it because then they are 100 000 under first appron and also the team b does this because they are in the need of center and using this contract they just got combined to that other guy from their roster they have a good chance to land player y from the team c". And that's like under minute after he has heard about a trade. At that point my brain has gotten to the point of "Ok, so it was team a and b. Who was the players again?" 😅😂

@@huyomzungugreg4632 I am not German, but I am huge Basketball fan who wants Basketball World cup to be great event. It is true that it is perceived as D grade tournament, but it is because Basketball still is very niche sport. I do not like when assumedly Basketball fans laugh at FIBA tournament for it being irrelevant. Like yeah, thats the problem, don't you as Basketball fan wish Basketball World cup was on par with Football World cup or smth, a major global celebration of a sport? Players and casual wont care if we don't care also, so do not be part of the problem and talk down FIBA world cup. Germans are World Champions, and it ain't junior gold, don't be an a** people. Americans think that they are the ones not caring for FIBA world cup, while tons of International stars never suit up for world cup, and a lot of people from countries in FIBA world cup, never even heard of FIBA. Basically every media coverege I consumed of last FIBA world cup, was from USA, so Americans excusing themselves for losing cause they don't care is pretty laughable, When Germany won World cup, most of their sports media didn't even mention it, because on that very same day, their Football National team fired their coach, and that story in Germany was thousand times more important. We are already niche, people who care for basketball, so try to grow the sport, don't be part of the problem. Sorry for the long comment.

Dallas is going to get more from the trade over the next 2-3 years. I don't think Luka will work in LA, too much spotlight, pressure and criticism if you are not performing. When Lebron stops playing next year or 1 after, who ya got. Luka is still in shock and can't believe Dallas pulled the trigger, in my estimation he is a little emotional and sulks in resting face. Jimmy will ball out for 60 games, but will not make a difference. Raptors kinda baffling but BI is a bucket, but needs to get better on D, and needs to stay healthy, and needs to stay, lot of if or buts there. But im a homer, and ill wait to see, glad Boucher hung in, needs to retire as a Raptor...next year
