Jerry west is GOATED... man was averaging over 40+ points a game and without the 3point line... and he was a very good outside shooter He is clearly the perfect player for the logo. He literally embodied skill, desire, perseverance and a never give up attitude.

A pioneer and titan of this sport. He could have had even gaudier statistics and awards if the 3pt line and All-Defensive Teams had existed during the entirety of his career. RIP to an absolute legend.

I remember my dad taking me to the LA Laker games to watch Jerry West play. As a player he was the man, imagine having a 14 year career averaging 27 ppg without a 3-point line. And then having Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain on your team who also averaged 27 and 30 ppg.

More on Jerry West. Jerry was the Chairman for the LA Open, which generates critical funds for local charities. He made a promise that for a generous contribution, he would make a public appearance in exchange. Our company made the gift and we picked 50 customer and employee Laker fanatics to meet with him at a local restaurant. I was there an hour early for set up. Jerry walked in by himself 10 minutes later. (What celebrity shows up early?). I greeted him and told him I had just finished his book “West on West”. We talked for 20 minutes. He never took his eyes off me. Meeting him was like revisiting with an old friend. He was kind, funny, curious. A true dialog. When our guests started to come in he talked with each of them. Signed anything they brought in. Then talked excitedly about basketball for 45 minutes. Then took questions. I don’t know if I was more stunned or impressed. It was the best event we ever held. And the LA Open reached their contribution goal. We need more people like him. Epilog. I asked Jerry, “Your playing card lists you at 6 4”. I am 6’2” and I’m looking up at you. How tall were you?” He gave me a sheepish grin and said, “Bill, I played at 6’6” but why tell them that.”

Man we're losing so much GOATS and we recently just lost Jerry West.. Legend carried games and clutched so many games, truly a Legend.. and it kinda hurts the fact that we might lose a lot of NBA legends soon enough, but they impacted one of the biggest and best sports in the world and they brought memories for people to carry and remember.. R.I.P Jerry West man, may another NBA legend fly high 🕊🕊

Someone told me that if West, one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, had totaled 10 more points in three finals game 7s (1962, 1966 and 1969), the Lakers would have had four championships instead of one during his career.

Jeanie Buss should be ashamed of herself for not naming Jerry West as one of the five greatest Lakers. In my mind he should be unquestionably No. 1. Name any other player in league history who had the same impact, not only as a player but also a coach, GM, and executive. RIP Mr. Clutch, the world is a lesser place today without you.

Jerry West was not just a great player, which he was at the highest level, he was also a class act and a person of high character. As a player, he was most certainly taller than his listed height of 6'2" or 6'3" and Mr Clutch had one of the best pull up jumpers ever, he could drive into the paint at will and was a great passer as well as a great finisher, and the Logo is one of the greatest guards on defense ever. Mr Clutch was quick, fast, he could really jump, and had long arms so he was a problem for opposing guards and teams. Jerry West is one of the greatest players of all-time. 💯🔥

I am a big Celtics' fan since the 80s. But I highly respected Jerry West throughout the years. He was a Hall of Fame player, but his talents went beyond the basketball court. He was instrumental in the Lakers' dynasty with his eye for talent evaluation. Kobe was his key piece that he was directly responsible for being over to the Lakers. He also was instrumental in the Warriors' dynasty with his role in the organization. RIP Jerry West
