His peak athleticism was the first 3-peat. The skinnier Jordan just appears more athletic to the untrained eye. To be more specific, peak-peak athletic ability Jordan was his 3rd championship season in the finals and no he didn’t fade at the end of the season because of the grueling stretch. He was a machine energized bunny with insane genetics who could progress at everything without fatigue causing him to stagnate or plateau. His trainer talks about this in his book. His 48” vertical was at this time. His trainer started working with him before the first championship season and took his vertical from 42” to 48” by the time the ‘93 finals arrived. Mentally he needed a break after this and not just cause his Father was murdered because he gave Stern fair warning before that tragic event but that was definitely the straw that broke the camel’s back.

I love how the music is suited to each period of Jordan’s career, 1984-1990 is fast paced, exciting, makes your heart race, as that’s what it was like to watch Jordan at that time full of youth, energy and excitement. 1991-1993 sounds commanding and dominant, like something a Rock N’ Roll King would walk out to complementing Jordan in this Period, the perfect mix of talent, energy and experience something the younger Jordan obviously lacked, Jordan at the absolute peak of his abilities. And finally we have the 1995-1998 theme sounding almost like a religious anthem , thematic, classical but still as loud and dominant as ever, showing how Jordan’s legacy has now risen to an almost myth-like status even while he’s still playing, a literal living legend.

I loved how Kobe Bryant played basketball. His NBA mix tape is very impressive. But when you watch the Kobe and MJ mix tapes back to back, it's plainly obvious that MJ was quicker and smoother. Kobe's movements look heavy and almost violent in comparison. There's a lightness to MJ's movements. Michael's style was smooth, powerful, and as strange as it sounds: aerodynamic. From the way he drove to the basket to how he soared through the air, everything is all so fluid and effortless. The way Michael Jordan played basketball brings to mind this quote from the great Bruce Lee. “You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”

Everything about Jordan was just so cool. The way he played, the athleticism, his looks, demeanor, movements, shooting form, the huge hands.. Even his career arc was perfect--drafted to a terrible team, advanced further in the playoffs each year, ultimately built his team to the greatest dynasty the league has seen, then left with the final game winning shot. That's why he is so beloved.

First, he played 2 more years after that shot. 2nd pippen left so he quit instead of definitely losing but at least trying to defend the title and going for a 4th straight ring. 3rd that’s not quite how his career arc went, at all.. 1st year 38-44 1-3 in playoffs 2nd year 30- 52 0-3 in playoffs 3 rd year 40-42 again swept in first round. 3 first round losses and little improvement until they drafted pippen really high in the draft and Horace, and built a good deep team with them off the bench. 4th year 50 wins lost 2nd round 2-3 5th year 47 6th 55 And from there they did keep improving until they were the only dynasty/super team in the league and dominated lesser talented teams. Jordan is one of the best, no denying that And 4th you should look into the bill russell John Havlicek etc dynasty.. untouched.. league truly never saw anything like it and never will again Have a good one

@@jaredfullmer5104 uh, yeah... we know all that. Jordan's the GOAT for many, many, *many* reasons. What you said isn't even close to a refutation of his position as the GOAT. Guess what - all the analysts and ex players that have him as the GOAT (75%+ of the population has him as the GOAT, Lebron tends to be 2nd with 13% of the vote, then a pretty good drop off after that) - they're all perfectly aware of everything you said. The analysts at ESPN and the Athletic who put together the top 75 greatest players of all time with Jordan at #1 - they're all aware of everything you said. You said it as though it was somehow an argument against him as the GOAT lol, as if it was some secret knowledge you have which allows you to uniquely understand his *true* place in history further down the list. I had to point out the folly of that thinking. The vast majority of knowledgeable NBA fans (fans, professional analysts, players or ex players, etc) who have him as the GOAT are perfectly aware of everything you said. It just doesn't make a dent in his GOAT case when you look at his entire body of work (individual accolades, skillset, team success, etc.).
@MIKESTER30342 жыл бұрын
@@jaredfullmer5104 First, he did play 2 more years after that shot but not immediately. It was about 2 years later, after when he came out of retirement to play for the Wizards. 2nd. Jordan retired not because of Pippen but more because it was Phil Jacksons last year of coaching because they was not gonna renew his contract to coach more years and Jordan had said he didn't want to play for another coach. So when they gave Phil the axe, Jordan retired and probably the reason Pippen left as well and any other good players as they knew the team was too broken up to win, because of the stupid feud with Jerry Krause because of a power struggle.. Now without Phil coaching and no Jordan or Pippen, etc. Jerry Krause would be the one to be blamed after they sucked so bad after their last championship and rightfully so. Otherwise they could of won even more championships. 3rd. The career arc was not perfect until they finally got Phil Jackson to coach and had Ted Winters "triangle offense" then they kept improving like you said and got better players along the way until they finally won. And also Jordan didn't jump around from team to team of possible contenders just so he could win a championship easier. He stayed loyal and remained with his team throughout. 4th. There was a couple good dynasty's back then like Celtics and Lakers, etc. but you have to understand back then there was only about 11 teams as opposed to like 32 today, so winning in a row would not be as hard when you have a pretty good team put together. Have a good one, it's all good and a happy 4th of July!!! 🎆🎇😎

I have never seen a player close their eyes before a shot just to boast; and that was just the obvious, all his no look shots as he floated away from the rim are just ridiculous. Lebron is great, but no one should be compared to the absurdity that Jordan was, the man was magical, for someone to have one of those plays would be a career highlight, MJ did it over and over as if it was just another shot.

@LeGoat James is 10-0 Better than Jordan by A LOT wym? pippen was on the bulls in 1987.. micheal only played 2 years without pippen. they didnt win until 91. You gotta lose before you win, common knowledge, ask lebron. only he left to go join Dwade (averaged 30ppg) and chris bosh to lose against the mavs and scored 8 points in a finals game.. No, Post season scoring = carrying. Just like lebron did in 2018 brining that scrub team to the finals. harden hasnt done shit in the playoffs.

@LeGoat James is 10-0 Better than Jordan by A LOT Yeah no shit he averaged less because you have two all stars coming on board. Same age and wholeheartedly agree. Those of who witness Jordan's playing days know it's true. Personally, I don't think any player who is playing today comes close. Two things I hate about the comparisons is when you watch Jordan take two steps versus 3 and 4 of today's players and the likes of charging and flopping. James is a bulldozer who would never have gotten away with it then. Jordan got hacked often and bulked up. His footwork was supreme. All those basic fundamentals have gone down the toilet.

Despite never having the chance to watch MJ play, I always considered him the GOAT just going off of his accolades and the most common highlights you could find. Watching this video, I feel like his athleticism has been severely underrated in modern days. His in-game dunking ability I feel is second to none, even by modern standards. His layup package is absolutely insane. Most impressively, he’s got to be the most creative defender I’ve ever seen. The way he’s able to steal the ball from unexpected angles, the way he baits defenders into dribbling right into his hands, how he wraps around offensive players. I feel like with the way social media is in contemporary society, MJ would be one of the biggest if not THE biggest human highlight reels.

MJs athleticism is so underrated that I often come across people who say Bron is faster, quicker, and a better athlete. Which is nowhere near the truth. The truth is MJ is one of the most freakish basketball players to ever play if not the most freakish. It would be between him, Dr J, Wilt, and maybe then Bron a distant 3rd. MJ was just quicker, faster, jumped higher, stopped better, changed directions better, had way better body control, insane stamina, first step, huge hands, hang time, etc that were leagues better than Bron. In short MJ had no weaknesses. The greatest and most fundamentally sound player ever. Whatever Nick Wright or Shannon Sharpe saying (smoking), real educated BB fans not taking that for face value.
@jcsuperstar46462 жыл бұрын
@@cobrachannel100 You just became my #1 commenter. Nick Wrong and Shannon are plain delusional. I have argued for years that LeBron is bigger and stronger than Jordan. That's it!! Jordan was much quicker, faster, explosive, and just an all around better athletically than James. That's not a slight on LeBron, it's just factual. You took it to another level in mentioning his ability to stop and change directions better, with more body control.

I miss robin williams, princess diana, micheal jacksons music and a small handful of great people, that humanity will miss taken too early or taken at all. But none of them make me sadder than jordan getting too old to play, watching jordan in the 80's - 90's retire and return twice, it was a magic trick, and that he hasnt come back again since 2003 is the saddest feeling ive ever felt. We were lucky to get what we did, but unbelieveable still is that there could have been so much more. I wanted them to clone him just so i could watch him play kobe more and lebron, and tim duncan, and steph curry, and it cant happen, and i mourn that like i mourn robin williams, the man is still alive and basketball is missing out.

I was able to watch MJ since 1989 when I was 9 until his retirement from the Wizards... and after more than 30 years watching the NBA I have never seen such a dominant player as MJ, he crushed basically everyone when he and his Bulls were at their peak, he did things that are impossible to do for a normal human being, he scored 28 points per game in his rookie season, he won 6 championships almost back to back if not for his retirement, being the top scorer in every one of them, he won every final he played being the respective MVP, he was incredibly strong both in ofense as well as in defense, he was so dominant that I even believe (and I respect Lebron a lot) that if Lebron and MJ lived in the same era, both at their peak at the same time, Lebron would have had zero chances to win an NBA championship, that dominant was Jordan. Man I feel so lucky having watched him winning all those games and championships

@ Bruno Sousa He was no was not as smooth and athletic like Jordan.Not even close ..
@cobrachannel1004 жыл бұрын
@Bruno Sousa Kobe was good but not even close to MJ when you analyze their games up close. First, Kobe benefited from the rules changes. 2005 hand check elimination, defensive 3 second rule changes were installed during Kobe's time. Sure, the D was still way better than now (2010s and on), but not nearly close to physical during MJs time. In addition, Kobe was way worse playing back to the basket. In fact, he wasnt that good and preferred facing the basket as much as he could. Kobe, was also inferior when it came to off the ball game. His shot selection was also worse and cost them the 2004 Championship. In addition, Kobe was not as good of a leader; hence, they lost that 2008 championship to the Celtics although they lead by 24 points in game 5. The Lakers should have taken a 3-2 lead. They were dominating but then chocked and Kobe could not stop the bleeding. Then in game 6 Kobe was passive and they got blown out the arena by like 40 points by the Celtics.That never happened with MJ. So you are wrong. Kobe in no way was more skilled than MJ. Mj had better IQ and just better skills, including god given physical atributes that allowed him to do things that Kobe could only dream.
@zroxmolejon62784 жыл бұрын
@Bruno Sousa problem of kobe is body and hand size that cant cope up with the atlethisism as mj's,, kb is very skilled but try to compare example thier jumpshots. Mj had higher vert during a jumpshop, mj is very good finding ways to had a shot meanwhile kobe sometimes over dribble, mj had good ways in making his shot selection (specially mid range) while kobe tend to force his shots (specially in 3's) thats why he has the worst fg in the league,, but kobe has the same mentallity mj had (the mentality not to quit)
