Thank you, Vince. You helped a lot of us through 2 MJ retirements with your high flying antics and silky smooth repertoire. A lot of people took the easy way out and relied on Kobe for that but you were my guy from day one. Too bad you never got the chance to win a chip but neither did many other all time greats. On top of that I've got to give myself credit for being a good judge of character. Was an honor serving as your concierge at the 2000 Olympics and getting to witness the greatest dunk of all time live. Congratulations legend

I was in high school when you played on the Raptors. Those were the good old days. All of my friends and I, we looked up to you. You were the bar. You gave a bunch of kids from across Canada and the world, a legitimate role model. We modelled our games after yours. You did many things for Toronto outside of financial contributions. That is your legacy. It is far above the rim, above the rafters and into the sky... where you made your living.... as a skywalker, for the Raptors but more importantly, an inspiration for a nation. Thank you! We see you!

For lifelong Raptors fans like me, this is an absolute dream come true! I’ve been waiting for this to happen to VC, he poured his heart and soul to the Raptors organization during the first four years of his career-he was almost like a one-man show for the raptors. One of the best eras to be a Raptors fan for sure, and I honestly never had any ill-will towards him when he wanted to be traded from Toronto. Vince has paved the way for so many Canadians who play in the NBA, and we owe him a great deal of gratitude and thanks for that!! Congrats Vince!!

Vince Carter, you personally were the main reason why I fell in love with the NBA for a reason. You made yourself a superstar while carrying a country on your back. Then you went to multiple teams just to continue your legacy, and playing in 4 different decades is incredible. However, I really wanted to see you in get a ring in the NBA Finals however the 2000 era was super fun to watch you being half man half amazing and competitive where you were in the playoffs but only made one conference finals in your career. However, you’re own legacy still defines you now as a hall of famer. Thank you for the memories of your greatness and I love you as a basketball player. Congratulations you definitely deserve to be there.

This dude was drafted when I was 11 years old. Went from being an absolute highlight machine to the 9th all time 3pt shooter. I still remember watching that Philly/Toronto series, I was in Wisconsin Dells for vacation. I'd be in the pool and whatnot, soon as game time approached, I got into the elevator, showered off, turned on the TV. My mom went to the room to grab something and she didn't know I had gone up there. She asked, "why are you up here and not in the pool or arcade area?". I told her, "Vince Carter and AI are in a playoff series". Been an absolute pleasure watching him for over 20 years.
@P-DAPS7 күн бұрын
That series was crazy! Vince & AI were going back & forth. As a Raptors fan I was terrified every time AI touched the ball lol. Vince had an amazing series including a 50 ball himself. I'm surprised he didn't say "IT"S OVER." at the end of his speech. :D VC is such an inspiration to me when I watched him as a high schooler. His creativity sets him apart, and I always admire his drive to not only win, but to entertain; to get you on your feet and say "What did he just do?!". Later on, his endurance and wisdom, which we all know, is Godly wisdom, it made sense why he is as humble as he is. I'm touched by his speech. Here I am, a 40 year-old man, with an injured arm due to overwork and stress, had to quit my job and figure out what to do next so I could put food on the table and roof above our heads. I've dropped out of colleges, ran out of financial aid, had my hands on so many various type of jobs, but my first love is still music. I've always wanted to create and have a music career, so I can bring joy to people around me first and foremost. As VC"s perseverance shows, it's not over when people say we're over the hill. Thank you Vince! Sincerely, -red.

Great speech and great that Vince goes in as a Raptor. It shouldnt have been a surprise but it seemed like something I would never hear or see. I remember when the Raptors came into the league and remembered all the Vince Carter stuff as a casual basketball fan. It was the lame Toronto sports media that started all the hate on Vince for the NC commencement and game 7 controversy. The fans always loved the guy, to kids he was their hero. He was exactly what Toronto basketball needed. He was great for the entire nation and the media jumped all over him for something to talk about. There were fans who jumped on it as well, but the media were the ones who really hung Vince. Lousy sports media in Toronto. I hear Vince talk and he sounds educated and intelligent. He mentioned more than once in this very hof speech that education came before sports..... more than ever and all these years later, it makes more sense to me that Vince chose to go to his commencement on the same day as a game 7. I questioned it back than, as a casual fan, but today I applaud him. Toronto loves Vince Carter, he is one of their biggest athletes and they have many.
