Good lord, Bob's jumper is forever imprinted in my memory, that unusual release, almost looked two handed; mainly those Buffalo years, Bob Kaufman, Ernie D feeding Bob all night long. Nobody could stop Bob, not Cowens, not Kareem, just too good offensively, and it's so true, he could just do pretty much anything he wanted to do. An all time great player. So true, as tough as Cowens was there was nothing he could do with Bob. Miss the old great guys, bummer for me is that some of the greats like Bob start to fall off the radar

Bob McAdoo was my favorite player when I first started watching the NBA during the mid 70s when he played for the Buffalo Braves. Dr. Jack Ramsey coached that team that also had Randy Smith. McAdoo led the NBA in scoring and rebounding one year and won the MVP. He was the best shooting big man back in the 70s.
@Dbusdriver71 Жыл бұрын
I believe he won the scoring title a few times, only topped by Maravich in 77 I think. The players today should be thankful that McAdoo didn't have a three point line in the 70s; he would be the leader in 3 point shooting. A side not; McAdoo is cool; Cooper is cold, a master thief.

@@Dbusdriver71 McAdoo led the league in scoring 3 times. He led the league in scoring and rebounding in 1975, the year he won the MVP.

@@StevenC32 Thanks for the info. His name came up a lot during the 70s. Was it New Jersy that then rookie coach Pat Riley traded for him from?
@StevenC32 Жыл бұрын
@@Dbusdriver71 Yes, he kind of bounced around after leaving the Knicks, he played for Boston, Detroit and then the New Jersey Nets before going to the Lakers. He won 2 championships with the Lakers backing up Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I was glad to see him win a ring, even if it was in a backup role. I was really happy to see him get inducted into the Hall of Fame too.
@Dbusdriver71 Жыл бұрын
@@StevenC32 Me to. I spent more time in the Forum than I did in School. I was very pleased for Bob. To me, Bob's most famous play wasn't offensive; it was the block of Dr. J in the 82 Finals game 6. He should have been amongst the NBAs 50 Greatest but somehow wasn't. Bob is still cool!

It's called " I'm STILL pissed Larry Bird ! ". ... From a Laker fan who used to hate you ! ". Will be finished inside a year now. From sum-1 who disliked Larry Joe enough to NOT watch him , when he played. Then , caught up on youtube...years later..... is the basic premise but has much more to it. Love see'n you on here Coop ! You've been a fav player of mine for a long-ass time .

@NBAHistoryCLNS2 жыл бұрын
He def frustrates him. The physicality too. Kobe would have his hands full w coop. I’ll ask him that next time we record. It’s a great question.
@Edd1e82 жыл бұрын
Nobody stops him, but I think Coop is longer and quicker than Tony Allen who Kobe said was the toughest to guard him. Keep in mind Coop was probably the best of all time coming off screens due to his skinny frame. He would often slip through them and didn’t have to switch his man often

Wonderful show!!! Rob Pelinka and the current Lakers would do well to watch. The 80s team changed as players got older but they generally remained the same, year in, year out. They had a chemistry that every other team was trying to catch up to, forget talent, CHEMISTRY!! The way the current Lakers flip a roster, they dont get it. And yes, it absolutely appeared as if the players genuinely liked each other.
