A report just came out about how Warriors owner Joe Lacob was using a manipulative negotiating tactic with Klay, which he had done with other players, where he would ignore them and be cold, hoping they would come back to the negotiating table, begging to sign a new deal with the team. Frankly, after seeing that, I don't blame Klay for leaving. As a Warrior fan, that really makes me question the amount of respect Lacob has for his players. Instead of playing mind games, he should be having an open dialogue, without all of these sneaky, manipulating tactics.

In theory, this is the best spot for Klay. He's playing with a ball dominant dude who often passes the ball late, when the defense had already collapsed. Klay can go back to being strictly a catch and shoot player. Now can he be an elite shooter again? We shall see. But in theory, just the style of play, Klay's a perfect fit.

@@tajonmitchel1712 stupid take. You're just speaking about the "ultimate power" because you have seen Lebron do it for so many times. Every team has a player management systemthat decides what to do and which path to take. Bob Myers really left Dunleavy in a bind, when he quit. I imagine the price to make a deal for Markkanen will be very high. Losing Kuminga would be a HUGE deal for GSW but, one major issue last year was Wiggins being absolute trash. Wiggins + Kuminga + Moody for Markkanen + Clarkson. I'd be down for this opportunity to change the roster in a meaningful way and try to be competitive this season. We need a major swing to help Steph play on a contender next season.

This is a great piece. I feel like I have a unique perspective. Splash bros killed my hopes and dreams as a Mavs fan, but the splash bros were so cool I couldn't hate them. I can hardly wait for Klay!!! Dallas the no 5 market @ 8 million DFW. And shall we say growing fast like my real estate tax bill? Love you guys, Chinenye especially!!!

Warriors should have cut Klay lose a few years ago after his major ACL injury … while they’re graciously giving him max for 4 years .. as he’s out for 2 years … Not only he never appreciated what Dubs did .. he’s holding all kinds of grudges against the team … he should be gratified for the $266 millions Warriors gifted to him .. at least half of $

If you watched 2023-24 warriors ball, Klay needed to come off the bench. He was playing a little selfishly and gunning. Never a good flow when he Steph and Wiggins were on the floor together. This will make GS better actually. Book it.

Wild at the Clippers blocked Paul George from going to the Warriors, even though they would've received a trade, they just did it out of spite. Spite to one of their best players ever in spite to the Warriors for getting better. Imagine that starting five, Paul George, Draymond Green, stuffed curry, Jonathan Kuminga, and whoever they would put it center

*The micro context is:* Klay put a bet on himself and lost... they offered him 48million for 2 years last summer and he turned it down to try and have an amazing year and get more.. This lead to the choice being; put your tail between your legs, accept less, accept that you lost the bet and stay or go else get the same money as last years offer and use the fresh start to patch your ego with a new honeymoon period. *The macro context is:* Poole should have never got his money before Klay based on the last 13 years *Both sides fucked up*

I'm sorry but your wrong. The Dubs had a legitimate extension offer on the table but Klay was feeling deserving of something closer to a Max deal so declined the extension, bet on himself and lost and now going forward Klau will be earning $10 million dollars a year less going forward than if Klau had signed the extension last year and remained with the Warriors so this is on Klay not the Warriors and those are just the facts and I was right here in the Bay and in the biz to witness it all.

GS offered Klay 2yr / 48M extention during last season around the all star break; but Klay chose to bet on himself and hope for a bigger contract during the offseason. Needless to say he didn't perform well so I'd be surpised if that 48M extension was still on the table in July

Had Lacob & Dunleavy offered Klay a $96-M 4-year deal w/a player option for the final year contract OR a $75-M 3-year deal then IMO Klay would most likely would have stayed a Warrior. That Dunleavy offered Klay a $48M 2-year contract PRIOR to the 2023-24 season likely was the final trigger that decided the direction Thompson would take and the disrespect that fans of Klay refer to. Maybe one could say that's what also caused Klay to play so inconsistently this last season? Could Stef have done a Tom Brady and offered part of his salary to get Klay a final good contract? Or Kerr an eloquent argument to both Thompson and Lacob to retain Klay? As they say, actions speak louder than words. It took a ballsy Jerry West threat to stop Thompson from being traded in 2014. Part of the Warriors magical 13-year run was in it's GM, Myers. He would most likely have handled Klay's last negotiation with more delicacy & care.

They way Klay was playing, no way hes playing in his prime for another 4 years. 2 years deal are the fairest they could offer him imo. I mean Lakers offered him 80mil/4 years and Dallas got him for 50mil/3 years so why the hell should GS over-shoot that? And I think had Myers still be the GM, he would have agreed to any demand from Klay because he doesnt want to break them up and sign him to an awful deal for the team. Remember how Myers was the one who drafted Wiseman and hes a bust now, he also was the one who gave Poole 35mil/year after one good run.
