A report just came out about how Warriors owner Joe Lacob was using a manipulative negotiating tactic with Klay, which he had done with other players, where he would ignore them and be cold, hoping they would come back to the negotiating table, begging to sign a new deal with the team. Frankly, after seeing that, I don't blame Klay for leaving. As a Warrior fan, that really makes me question the amount of respect Lacob has for his players. Instead of playing mind games, he should be having an open dialogue, without all of these sneaky, manipulating tactics.

GS offered Klay 2yr / 48M extention during last season around the all star break; but Klay chose to bet on himself and hope for a bigger contract during the offseason. Needless to say he didn't perform well so I'd be surpised if that 48M extension was still on the table in July

Nah, if you don't understand why it happened like this, you're the casual clown. Klay got enough money to secure his grandkids, it's about respect. And that's why you're an NPC and Klay is not

Why would you fault a dude for getting every last dollar before he retires? There is no loyalty (or morals) in professional sports.

It’s sad to see Klay leave the dubs ..on one hand you have superstar divas who keep switching teaks faster than their shoes ..and then you have people like Klay ..not on current form but they should have rewarded him for what he’s done for the franchise no question

I’m glad Klay is gone.He had a bad attitude which hurt the team. Would also like to see Draymond Green’s departure. How many times will he get suspended and get a pass from the team?

I get that people get emotional about eberything now a days. But when you are being paid millions to shoot a ball into a hoop or rehab due to injury. How could you ever, in life, feel betrayed

Lacob carried/resigned Klay for big bucks while injured -- this is all about Klay and his ego -- could have signed last year -- this is all on Klay

Had Lacob & Dunleavy offered Klay a $96-M 4-year deal w/a player option for the final year contract OR a $75-M 3-year deal then IMO Klay would most likely would have stayed a Warrior. That Dunleavy offered Klay a $48M 2-year contract PRIOR to the 2023-24 season likely was the final trigger that decided the direction Thompson would take and the disrespect that fans of Klay refer to. Maybe one could say that's what also caused Klay to play so inconsistently this last season? Could Stef have done a Tom Brady and offered part of his salary to get Klay a final good contract? Or Kerr an eloquent argument to both Thompson and Lacob to retain Klay? As they say, actions speak louder than words. It took a ballsy Jerry West threat to stop Thompson from being traded in 2014. Part of the Warriors magical 13-year run was in it's GM, Myers. He would most likely have handled Klay's last negotiation with more delicacy & care.
@tigera63 ай бұрын
They way Klay was playing, no way hes playing in his prime for another 4 years. 2 years deal are the fairest they could offer him imo. I mean Lakers offered him 80mil/4 years and Dallas got him for 50mil/3 years so why the hell should GS over-shoot that? And I think had Myers still be the GM, he would have agreed to any demand from Klay because he doesnt want to break them up and sign him to an awful deal for the team. Remember how Myers was the one who drafted Wiseman and hes a bust now, he also was the one who gave Poole 35mil/year after one good run.
