My problem with the 4 ten minute quarters totaling 40 mins is the fact that it's gonna screw with the bench rotation essentially. NGL we've already seen superstar players play 40 mins + in a game before in important games etc. Most starters generally play atleast 35-39 mins. So what's to stop a team from just playing there 5 starters all 40 mins each game? Then if that's the case there's no longer need for legitimate depth and having a good bench rotation. Bc I'll say this much. You ain't seeing a ten man rotation in a 40 min game unless the minutes of most guys are drastically cut. I understand the rest aspect for players but i think it'd screw with the game a lot. Im more in favor of cutting 10 games off season and going from there. I get him wanting to match global if he has future plans but it'd come at such a big cost that i don't think it's worth it at all. Essentially those veteran rotation role player guys who are good and very valuable now for most teams would probably no longer be needed in that new format. Silver also says this would bring the viewing experience from 2 hours 15 mins to 2 hours. Which he said would be more preferable for average viewer. I don't think 15 mins is gonna make or break someone watching the game.
