The media refuses to acknowledge just how bad Darvin Ham was, especially with timeout-management. He continuously used outdated defensive-schemes, made them double-team almost every possession (which would leave a man open every single time), and sit with his hands in his pockets; stubbornly refusing to adjust his game-plan. An NBA Coach CANNOT be stubborn. Those two things are oxymorons. JJ is on the other side of the spectrum from Ham.

Darvin ham deserved to lose him job honestly. He is the only coach I’ve ever seen that would wait until the lead is lost- to call a time out. He would never stop another team’s run/streak with a quick time out to interrupt their momentum. A team would come all the way back and take the lead before Darvin considers a timeout. It was that way all season long- including playoffs.
@GreatImmortal91

He wasn’t a competent coach. People try to make it seem like it was just the players, like these aren’t professionals doing a job. Once he lost the locker room it was a wrap. Year one he had the locker room, year two they said f that lmao

@atlien1988
@atlien1988 3 күн бұрын
Then you clearly haven't watched a lot of basketball at all. Phil Jacson was NOTORIOUS for not calling timeouts and allowing players to figure things out on the court on their own. I lost count how many times Ham would draw up a play or talk in the huddle when his two best players would be absolutely tuned out & uninterested in what he was saying. Ham is not above reproach, but given the circumstances dealt, he coached us to WCF and IST during his tenure. Yall are the same lot that praised the Lakers for reaching the WCF and winning the inaugural IST. Why doesn't he get the courtesy of learning on the job just as Redick will receive since he has ZERO coaching experience. Redick's rotations will not be perfect, and neither will his time management, yet Ham was held to standards aimed at PERFECTION.
@atlien1988
@atlien1988 3 күн бұрын
@@GreatImmortal91 so if he wasn't competent, how were the Lakers able to make the WCF last year? How were we able to make strides and win IST this year? Surely, that shows Ham was in fact competent. If he was so incompetent, as you claim, why did we fire Vogel? Was he also incompetent?

I hope J.J does well. There needs to be fresh blood in every aspect of sports, you can't have the same coaches always rotating, even with experience alot of the coaches aren't coaching to a championship. He is a very articulate, and knowledgable basketball anaylst who unlike many of his peers isn't bias and spewing absolute nonsense 99% of the time. He was a good player ontop of that, what more can you really ask for? Everyone had no experience when they started. He is atleast the most qualified you can possibly be without that

Prior to the All Star break I dubbed this era of NBA basketball the 'Age of the International Center.' This was an acknowledgement of the dominating, winning effect of the best of the best bigs in the NBA: Jokic, Embiid, Antetokounmpo, Gobert, Towns, Sabonis, Markkanen, etc. I did not anticipate that the Boston Celtics- whose premiere players are versatile wings- would end up winning the chip. A deeper dive into the roster of said rival team, however, would reveal that the Celtics are, in fact, at the cutting edge of this era, with a total of 3 internationally born centers on their roster: Kristaps Porzingis (Latvia), Al Horford (Dominican Republic), and Neemias Queeta (Portugal). Much like an imposing offensive line in football, those whose actions have the greatest impact on winning tend to escape notice, instead resigning themselves to heroism of the unsung variety. Doing the dirty work, and allowing your teammates the glory of favor and adulation of the public. Nonetheless, the foundation, the formula, the championship recipe for this year's Celtics team does in fact confirm my observations of where the league is, and the direction it is going. The next two decades of professional basketball will be very much about the giants of the world defying every known principle of physics and human kinesiology to both dazzle and dominate in the sport of basketball. The Age of the International Center is here, and it ain't going nowhere anytime soon.

JJ's upbringing is country as in Redick was born in Cookeville, Tennessee, the son of Jeanie and Ken Redick. Cookeville, Tennessee (which is only 80 miles away from Nashville) is also known for racial slurs from Cookeville and Nashville residents that happen to be white folks... With the very emotional JJ Redick (he was emotional when he disregarded Bob Cousy as only playing with plumbers and firemen, and he was emotional/fiery when he disregarded Larry Bird as not a top 5 3-point shooter), ... yes, I can believe Hallemah Nash...Nash is telling the truth. I can see an emotional fiery JJ Redick calling her the "N" word.

LeBron & AD didn't respect guys who played on championship teams and worked their way as Assistants for years before becoming Head Coach, but they're going to respect the guy who didn't really do anything spectacular in the NBA, played on ZERO CHAMPIONSHIP teams, and has ZERO coaching or leadership pedigree (that actually matters)? They didn't even respect Frank Vogel when he COACHED us to a championship!! We see what ESPN and kLutch Camp are doing!!!

On a scale of Darvin Ham to Phil Jackson, I see JJ having a rougher time just like most of Lebron's coaches. Rooting for him though, I hope they run it back with CP3 in a Lakers jersey counseling Bronny

“JJ will hold everyone accountable“ yeah ok. Lebron hasn’t played defense in over a decade and he will continue to not play defense. That has been the issue with the lakers, it’s always 5 vs. 4 on defense for the lakers. I find it funny that everyone was calling out Luka for his lousy defense but he’s identical to lebron and there’s no peep about that. The lakers ain’t winning anything until lebron leaves.

The lakers try to hide bron on defense like the mavs try to hide Luka. But offenses hunt Luka more than they hunt lebron, and they get significantly better results from it. Did you see that stat about Luka getting blown by on almost 70% of drives in the finals? Even at 40 lebron isn’t anywhere near THAT level of a liability on defense

The players having control of who "coaches" the team and statements like "LeBron & AD respect him" are just a small sampling of what is wrong with the NBA as a product.

Playing in the "Modern Nba" is a key factor that isnt being talked about enough.. Darvin Ham played in the nba decades ago same with Mark Jackson etc etc. I really think that'll help JJ Alot

If JJ has to tell Lebron “he’s gonna get on him” then it’s over before it began. You’re either the real deal or you’re not. You can’t fake being a real person and coach and expect to get anywhere in sports
