Say what you will, half of what is called "defense" is a foul and it should be called as that. They are constantly pushing and shoving, I dont see how that is great defense. It's just fouls that dont get called. Even if you agree on it not being called, what's the reasoning for calling those things like handchecking, pushing with arms, hand and shoulders, in the regular season but not in the play offs. Do teams now need to teams, one that gets em to the play offs and one that is physical enough to score in spite of irregular game play? It makes no sense on any level.

When T-Mac was talking about this duo and their “skill” compared to Wade and James I rolled my eyes and this game showed why. KD and Kyrie played nothing but iso/hero ball and did it over and over and over again when it cleary wasn’t working and didn’t even try to adjust. Sure they’re better offensively and doing moves but with wade and james you get the full package. Playmaking, Adjustments, and defense. It’s more to basketball than just looking flashy, you have to be able to make adjustments

more steve nash’s fault. no doubt kd and ky choked today but steve nash just relies on their firepower and continues to go back to kd hoping he just flips the switch and finds his shot rather then making adjustments and utilizing his other shooters
@greenmeaniebandits
@greenmeaniebandits 2 жыл бұрын
Indeed but usually those type of adjustments come from the coach. If Nash See's the way the Celetics are guarding KD and Kyrie and their iso isn't being effective he needs to call more motion style in the offense. KD and Kyrie are just as skilled in iso situations as they are in dho's, and coming of screens etc.

@@MrPrettyBoyChina He's fine. They walked into Philly having solved James Harden before the game even started. Nash doesn't have the roster - or the willing roster - to play a winning style in the playoffs. It can work with teams like the 20 Lakers when LeBron and AD are at their peak. But the Nets are too close to this year's Lakers: Kyrie not showing up for 2/3 the season and not eating all day. KD not at his peak anymore. Spots of good secondary players but not a balanced roster. Blake and Aldridge unplayable. You can't win with that roster unless KD and Kyrie are among the top 5 in the league and they have a good defense behind them. Against a balanced team with, what, 7 or 8 guys scoring in double in figures? Don't blame the coach for bad roster. It's like the Jazz: fatally flawed roster. We gonna blame Quinn Snyder?

Most of the time when a team goes down 0-2 there's still hope, but this really feels like Brooklyn will need a miracle/luck to comeback and win this. I thought Boston would win from the beginning, mainly because Brooklyn had more flaws; but at least it would go 7 games. I thought Brooklyn was too reliant on jumpshots and too elusive that they don't win fouls calls enough, don't win the rebound battle and play average defense; at best. However, in these first two games, Brooklyn has shot much less jumpshots than Boston and has taken more and made more free throws, had only game one when they lost the rebound battle and have actually played fairly good defense on Boston. Yet they are still down 0-2. The same way we haven't seen the best Brooklyn team yet, Boston hasn't won a game at their best also. That's scary. All this tells me is the difference lies within these players and Boston has wanted it more both games and the desire will only increase on their end. Brooklyn will be lucky to 2 wins before this is all but over.

I said it before the playoffs that the Nets were going to go home early with or without Kyrie full time. You don’t win playoff basketball by playing little to no defense because defenses are allowed to be a lot more physical in the playoffs.

defense this game was pretty decent for the most part, they held tatum to under 20. problem: you're not going to win if kyrie and kd shoot 8-30 combined from the field

@@DanDaAussie facts there not I’m telling u the Celtics defense imo reminds me of the piston 04 team got great players but defense is incredible but Tatum is special even when his shot wasn’t falling he still found a way to still be in this game and that’s called growth man

The Nets defense didn’t lose them the game. They have actually played well on defense. They get tight when it’s time to finish games and that’s because they don’t have any go to sets to protect leads. Those media talking points needs to stop.
