Here, in sunny-and-warm South Texas, Mesquite trees and other indigenous trees help to mitigate the heat of the hot sun. Also, they are very hardy, as they can withstand extremely warm and extremely cold temperatures. Sadly, our city ordinances don't allow us to have too many of these naturally-growing trees decorating our yards, as they are considered unsightly, here, in our border-town community. It doesn't make sense, though, because you have to be watering store-bought trees and plants constantly just to keep them alive. This causes our city to have a water shortage, consequently limiting our water usage and having us on a scheduled watering week (allowing watering our lawns only twice-a-week...or facing a fine for breaking the rule), ...despite the fact that we are situated right next to The Rio Grande, our large and natural source of water supply,... ironically. SMH 🙄

They attract alot of tourist and helps their economy. Can't blame them emphasizing it

@ImpossibleDream67 How come ? You don't like tourists ? I don't like tourists either and prefer peace and quite but my community survives almost solely on tourism so ... I can't really complain =P

@ImpossibleDream67 Yeah you are right , I live in one of those tiny places where local businesses only open for the "Summer" tourist season and totally rely on people going off the beaten track but over the past 20 years tourism has completely diminished , as you say they are going mostly to capital cities and major attractions. It suits me fine but it's really not good for local business and has caused probably 80% of locals to be forced to leave the area. I do understand where you are coming from though. Centralized attractions have boomed at the expense of small business
