The U.K. did violate an embassy before but it was in a different context. "Operation Nimrod" was carried out at, ironically, the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980 by the British S.A.S. Regiment in order to free hostages from 3 terrorists. Sometimes the end justifies the means.

Similar yet very different. Glas already had a jail sentence by the time Mexico cowardly hid him away in their embassy. Assange wasn’t even tried for his crimes, but Ecuador’s leftist regime at the time let him in their embassy.
