I live in a country famous for bushfires (what Americans call 'wildfires'), and have to say that I've been shocked and horrified at how many people don't seem to understand the huge health risk they're taking by being outdoors in an atmosphere of visible smoke haze. You don't have to be coughing, to be subject to irreversible particulate damage to your lungs. The kind of damage which - if you're very lucky - only makes you prone to bronchitis.

LA city needs to fly crop dusters over the ruins of the homes that burned and drop a foam slurry that contains a glycerin solidifier in it to seal the loose ash that blows into the atmosphere. This will do 2 things. 1. It will deprive hot ashes in the ruins preventing oxygen from causing a rekindle and ember cast that may blow in high winds. 2. I wish more officials would talk about tight screens to keep embers from entering the vents on homes. Both the roof vents and the crawl space vents can be screened. Vegetation next to the house can be removed and items removed from under decks. These details can help keep a home from igniting.

As long as the fire-attack aircraft can be flown, there is no way the fires will spread out of control. There are also far more firefighters and equipment now than ever before since firefighters came from other states and countries. That fire doesn't stand a chance of doing any more damage to structures. Los Angeles is ready now to contain any fire. Too bad they didn't have all those resources last week. I'm so sorry to see all the devastation in these fires. I have no idea how those affected can pick up the pieces especially in these times of inflation as they are. I do have one suggestion. There are videos of rural towns in states like Arkansas and Oklahoma on KZbin that demonstrate they are at the point of near extinction. LOTS of abandoned houses and buildings, albeit many beyond repair, but land that can be built on. One town relatvely close to OKC in disreoair is Anadarko. Bunches of empty buildings and houses. Also the cost of living is like half in Oklahoma and Arkansas than in California. If people would transfer over en masse, not only could it be a stepping stone of new beginnings for fire victims but the California entrepreneurial spirit could revitalize these near ghost towns. Also, of note there's a push in Oklahoma to bring in sitcom filming! Oklahoma is starting to get into the film industry, again at lower cost than in California. Perhaps some of the people who are forced to start over due to the fires might consider migrating. Also, Oklahoma and Arkansas desperately need more Democrats to break the Republican hold on the states. It could be a win-win!

I am 30 miles, maybe 25, as the crow flies, from the Palisades fire, and if they can't control it, best way to escape is down south into San Diego and Mexico beyond or east towards the high desert but the high desert can't support millions of newcomers at once. I'm near Long Beach port, so if it gets this far, 25 miles southward, the word apocalyptic will not describe this area. And yes, all 10 million people of Los Angeles county are warned to prepare to evacuate......just in case. Gotta go gas up, etc etc
