He found someone who fought for him, supported him and encouraged him when he was at his lowest. He found a constant in his life when he wasn’t expecting it. He fell in love without expecting it, you could say he fell in love with Hailey like he was falling asleep.

Upstead is one of the best written ships in this One Chicago franchise. I am glad Jay confirmed what we as fans have known all along about how much he's loved Hailey. You could tell Jay had feelings for Hailey seasons ago so it comes as no surprise he sees a future with her. I love that he proposed because he is an old fashioned guy wanting to get down on one knee for the woman he loves. Jay and Hailey are proving they can weather this storm together, they are not going to give up on each other. It makes you want to root even harder for them.

Is this the best moment of their lives or the best moment of my life? Probably both. We’ve all waited so long for this! And I can’t believe it finally happened. 🥺 I wish I could like this video 55055 or 51163 times. But even that wouldn’t be enough. Everything about this was perfect. They truly did get engaged doing ‘their thing that works’. Yup, still crying about that two months later. Their entire love story is just one of the most beautiful and realistic relationships I have ever seen on television. I love them so much!!! And I love how much these two love each other. They don’t need a lot (as this proposal proves) they just need each other. And now they’re gonna be together forever. I’m so happy I could cry. They’re truly gonna be partners in every sense of the word. Work partners and most importantly life partners. It’s perfect. 🥺❤️❤️ Yes the rest of the season was quite intense for them, and they’ve a lot to figure out with this whole Roy case. But Upstead is solid. They got each other’s six, forever. They’re good and they’re always gonna be good. And I can’t wait to see more cute and domestic scenes like this one with these two in the future! Please, I love seeing them in (their new) home, building their life together. It’s my new favorite thing in this world. I hate how they ruined a good thing. They could have made it like what they did with Brett and Casey on fire they moved away and lived happily ever after. I hate when shows push for a couple for them just to destroy a good thing for no reason. Also it definitely didn’t seem like Jay would ignore Hailey, not call her back, and basically ghost someone he called the love of his life. I’ve noticed they make characters who are leaving these shows unbearable for the most part.
