Heckingbottom wasn't sacked based on results. The fanbase expected relegation and the we expected him to be the manager next season. The reason he was sacked were the "performances", the worse I've seen in 50 years. The players looked like they'd just met up the day before a match, they were never a team, played long ball kick and rush football with small players up front, looked totally lost with damage limitation tactics so we hardly even ventured into the opposition half. Wilder is now manager and with the same players the transformation has been hard to believe, we now look a team and several of the new players who we thought were rubbish now look good quality signings playing some short pass to feet football. Sheff Utd now have a chance of staying up, watch this space.

couldnt say I wasnt expecting it, Sheffield United are absolutely dreadful, wouldnt be surprised if they do an 08 Derby County

Sheffield United season was doomed since the summer transfer window IMO. I don’t think Wilder can help them drastically

The transfer window wasn't bad at all. The players brought in are capable of way better than what was being displayed. He seemed to struggle with 10 new players, and barring a couple of the new signings, insisted on playing as much of the old guard as possible.

If they go the Tottenham route and hire one of the Aussies (Arnold or Muscat) they’ll 100% stay up.

Absolutely, take emotion out the game, fans want to be competitive and even though Paul Heckingbottom was a lifelong Sheffield United supporter, it doesn’t excuse the fact that they’ve been dreadful. 8-0 against Newcastle, 5-0 against Burnley. If you’re going to get relegated at least have some decency to go out trying.

Sadly he was the main problem at this level. Losing is part of sport, however losing in the manner they have been was completely unacceptable. Ran out of ideas, sticking with the same players, same system. Reluctant to make changes or give other players a chance, so things just went flat. Players and supporters completely deflated.
