You've earned the chance to get your entire 1st string a week off right before the playoffs after 12 weeks of playing. Thats HUGE. Lions and Vikings have to play for that bye. The loser goes on the road the next week. Huge advantage, take the rest when you can. Go look at the teams record without AJ Brown, or without Lane Johnson. They lose a lot more of those games. They will get to the NFC title game, facing either the Lions or Vikings, and the Eagles have more than a 50/50 chance of beating either team. Alot of ppl are making this an "either or" thing. If sitting him guarantees a superbowl, it's a no brainer. But that's not the case. He has 300+ carries for the season. Every time a player is on the field, there's a chance of injury. If he gets 25 carries on Sunday, there's not a higher (or lower) percentage chance of injury then the carries in 1st round of the playoffs.

He could get injured the first play of scrimmage in the wildcard. Look at Jalen, he got injured after 2 drives in Washington and it ultimately contributed to us losing the 1 seed. If Hurts is activated, he needs to get the rust off before the playoffs and the OL needs to get used to playing with a mobile QB again. I don't want Hurts spending a whole half of a playoff game trying to get back into a rhythm. So, it makes sense to give the offensive starters a half against the Giants to work out timing and get Hurts back into game flow. By doing that, you deal with the Saquon record. Give him the first half to get it. If he can't get it in the 1st half, then it is what it is.

Ugh I want them to go for it so BADLY in the first half. If they're able to get say 75 plus yards then let em try into the 2nd half to get 101. HOWEVER... then I say to myself, " Other than MAYBE Grant Calcaterra aka our current starting TE, can I name a O-LINE or WR starter that we'd need to play to get the record, that I believe we can go to Minnesota or go to Detroit much less WIN the SB WITHOUT? " Unfortunately, I can't. We are not THAT MUCH better than Detroit or Minnesota or the AFC opponent in the SB to beat them without the people who could potentially get hurt trying to get the record. Tough decision. Rest seems like the "right" thing to do, especially on that MetLife field, but plenty of teams have sat starters the last game and came out flat in the first round. I think you give him 10-12 carries and see if he can bust a couple big ones, then pull him and everyone else. Either way it's been a historic season, Go Birds🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

There isn't any point to the division system anymore. The only reason they are still doing it is because "that is how we have always done it". They should play 15 games (one against every team in the conference), add two games (making 19, which would allow them to continue playing four opposite conference games), and expand the roster size to 60 (which is a roughly equal increase in labor force to work load, from the players union perspective. If they functioned like a normal union, they would have already bargained for that when the schedule increased.). This would be a more fair system as every team in the conference would have around 80% the same schedule. Teams would then be playoff slotted purely off record, not winning weak divisions. It would be more consistent with only the conference leader getting the bye week.

Here’s how I see it, Saquon mentioned Eric Dickerson did the record in like 16 games and it wouldn’t be the same for the current 18 game season, to which my response is… Yeh, but back then the league valued runningbacks more incorporating the run game into the offense. Imagine the narrative at a time when league has a more “throw first” philosophy then here comes Saquon as a runningback breaking the regular season rushing record! People are talking about it like it’s an “either or” thing and it’s not. Like resting Saquon guaranteed the Superbowl. We are talking about resting Saquon against the Giants. The fucking Giants! A team that is trying to lose! If we where that worried he’d be hurt while knowing we’d have to start him in 4 playoff games (including Superbowl) where the teams actually wanna win I’d say all the coaches and the staff in the Eagles organization need to rethink their priorities. The Super Bowl is not a guarantee but the record at THIS specific time is! So as Eagles fan we’ve been saying all year, “Take the easy points!” Note: Also what does it say about league where Josh Allen will get the MVP but somehow a runningback breaking an all time record at this time in the NFL doesn’t get you an MVP? Then you might as well change it to an MVQ award because no other position getting it!

Winning the Super Bowl in pro football is literally all that matters! Nobody in Philadelphia will give a rat's ass about the rushing record if the Eagles make an early playoff exit. There will be no parade on Broad Street for Barkley if he wins it, and it won't save Siriani's job. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You either chase meaningless stats and put your players at risk of burnout and injury, or you rest them and get ready to give it your best shot against your first playoff opponent.

This narrative about the Birds' passing game being hurt by their running game is getting on my last nerve. The Birds have 2,997 yards rushing & 2,942 yards passing. Meanwhile, the Ravens have 2,969 rushing yards and 3,818 passing yards. The Lions and Bucs also have rushing attacks that are on par with the Birds and passing attacks that are better and far less clunky. Phuck otta here with you can't do both at a high level in today's pass-happy NFL. Especially with all the money and talent on that side of the ball.

​​​​If Washington wins next week we play Green Bay. If Green Bay wins next week & Washington loses we play Washington. Dallas will be looking to end the season on a strong note against Washingtons backups. Especially with McCarthy coaching for his job(that may ultimately be lost no matter what) Green Bay will probably play their starters for atleast the first half if I had to guess. I think playing Washington is more possible then you think. Also whoever loses the Detroit/Minnesota will be the 5th seed. And will be either traveling to Tampa, Atlanta or LA for their first round matchup depending on how the seeding works out.

And as far as the 6th or 7th seed... If WSH wins next week they will become the 6th seed. If GB wins & WSH loses next week GB will be the 6th seed. If Both teams lose next week WSH will be the 6th seed & GB 7th.
