Garrett is definitely not a side character. Superstore is an ensemble cast, but I would say there are 7 main characters: Amy, Jonah, Dinah, Glenn, Cheyenne, Mateo and Garrett. They are really the core of the show. Supporting/side characters would be: Sandra, Jerry, Carol, Justine, Marcus, Sayid, Brett, Kelly, Jeff, Laurie, Maya, etc.

That being said, it's very weird that this channel has entire videos specifically about characters like Justine and Marcus (who I love, but are absolutely 'side characters') but then makes the video almost entirely about Garrett and is just like "welp, yep, just random side characters here!"

If you watch actors interviews there are seven main characters Amy, Jonah, Glenn, Dina, Garrett, Cheyenne and Mateo. I also found this out recently when I watched the interview of the guy who plays Glenn saying if you don't like me you would like the other 6. These are not side characters guys. These are the main characters and once you figure it out you look at the episodes in a different light.
