That's how I feel in Pennsylvania. They're very strict here and the police are always prowling around for people out of inspection. I'm always like there's many states without it and people aren't dying lol

So the good thing about Maryland is to get tags you just need one inspection, but the bad news is tags are too expensive and inspections are ridiculous on how strict they are and in my experience a lot of inspectors love to dick you around.

in Cali, classics without smog checks are 1975 and older! from 1976 and newer all mush have smog equipment and pass smog testing regularly.

This is not a story or an issue and it's not a loophole. It's the way it should be. Make all registrations no more than 5 dollars with no restrictions and call it good. Freedom baby..yeah

I find it funny how strict Maryland is with their safety inspections- just to drive a safe car on these ratty assed pothole filled roads. Fix the roads then worry about inspections.

In Ohio, your car has to be 25 years old to get e-check exempt, but the State does that automatically, and you don't have to pay extra for the "Historical" plate. E-Check is only in 6 Metro areas however - not Statewide....

It sounds like they want to take away some folks only means of transportation that they can afford. Lots of the safety inspection points are BS and most people will at least maintain things like brakes and lights in fear of a ticket, but rust holes and such don't always mean its unsafe, just rusty.

You can thank Martin O'Malley for lowering the eligibility for Historic plates from 25 years old down to 20.Also, as a rule today's cars are built to last longer. As Marylanders know, there is only 1 safety inspection,and that is when the car is transferred to a new owner/buyer.My guess is that these Historic vehicles in daily use are insured as daily drivers and not as 'classic'.Sure, it's cool to tool around in an older vehicle (provided that it is safe).Daily driving a car with a rusty frame isn't too swift.An older person should know better.That's the kind of stuff that can cause accidents. Be careful out there,folks!

How can they not know? We got these in Cali and unless you are going to a show/back youcant have them out. Every old car owner knows that.
