Crap......still a team game....

Nobody in elite sport is accepting of a player who is disengaging from the team AND also not playing with any energy or effort... At the elite level, every player has team responsibilities and non-negotiables. If they aren't being met and the player is just left to "ball", that player goes from being a team distraction to a toxic figure negatively impacting wins and loses. I didn't see the Sydney vs Adelaide game, but looking at stats alone and some of what others have reported, it seems that Montrezl may have been given the wake-up call needed and ha hopefully turned the corner - time will tell..

Isn't it pretty disrespectful to do this during a women's game? This would be like AFL360 doing a show on the side lines during a W game. Very strange

yep - 100% - just a really bad call, and we should expect so much more of the NBL and the production team ... Someone didn't think this through at all, but I'm actually not surprised it happened in Sydney where the b/ball IQ of the average punter is very low compared to the likes of Adelaide, Perth or Melbourne. Incredibly disrespectful- I can imagine some of those women felt not only disrespected but perhaps even humiliated seeing this going on in the corner of the court...

I guess it just shows you where the woman’s game is at. It is what it is?🤷🏽
@aussiesurfer805Күн бұрын
@@HK-jz5sz Interesting take, but I don’t think it reflects where the women’s game is at all… Facts are the women’s game overall is arguably as interesting and followed as any time in the game’s history. Then if you compare the style of play to the men’s modern game, it’s clear women’s b/ball is still being played with more structure and team based fundamentals, with a focus on cohesion, off ball and movement, as opposed to some of the boring 1 out, motionless, hero ball/free throw/3 point contest on show during the regular season here and elsewhere. Its a very long bow to stretch I know, but it has some similarities to Pop’s title wining/competing era at the Spurs, and the Aussie FIBA team of years gone by i.e. they’re playing a “beautiful style of how basketball is meant to be played”, utilising all of a team’s and coach’s resource to both score and defend” .. Without question a junior developing player would learn more about how to play the game watching some WNBL games rather than NBL. Besides which, they had a choice, here and they chose to publicly show disrespect to WNBL, that’s not a situation of “it is what it is”, they made the decision to be disrespectful, they could very simply have chosen to have not been disrespectful to female athletes and WNBL.

Sydney haven’t got enough star players!! Ha ha! I’m sure they would be pushing for 5 imports if they could. I hope Sydney get a guard. Then I can guarantee they won’t win it. I agree with Derek, they need some size. All the money spent but it ain’t happening this year for the Sydney spend kings

NBL do better and respect women's basketball ... Having this show play out with the backdrop of the country's top women's league is incredibly disrespectful... Lower leagues maybe, pre-season maybe, but not the WNBL or NBL ...

As you can see the huge crowd certainly didn’t drain out the broadcast.

@ … is that meant to be funny ? You’re just perpetuating the scenario … I’ll never understand why some men still do this, and often so proudly… Can only be a lack of intelligence and/or some sort of internal fear or threat they’ve had built in to them about women… either way, makes people realise they’re probably someone who struggles. in life, has poor relationships, higher risk of DV, and so high quality men and women tend to always avoid as much as possible…
