Working with other sparks is always fun... you need to decide WHO is signing it off, and then the one who isn't gets to do what they're told (unless it's not to regs, or you have a better idea)
@effervescence5664Ай бұрын
That's the one thing the Dewalt and Viper have over the Milwaukee stapler. Hole hawgs are a must have, I got the 64v dewalt first for core drilling and then got the 18v when it released for joist bays.
@nedbundy4956Ай бұрын
I work to 500 mm to the the centre of sockets bro Just easier to set laser through centre 🙌
@markrainford1219Ай бұрын
Drilled your joists in the wrong place. You are meant to keep to the middle of a board. More chance of hitting over long nails with your auger. Plus punching nails through a floorboard is a legit technique for lifting boards with zero damage, and that is right where you've put your cables.
@baracus901Ай бұрын
I noticed that too. Suppose that can happen when your putting cables in from below. Also when he lays cable across the joist why clip them so high up, just below the boards? Is rockwool is going underneath?
@duncanpitts6776Ай бұрын

@NBundyElectrical Great video as always keep up the work! When you come to 2nd fix this, would you be wiring the heating side up? If so, would you make a vid on it? Would be great educational vid as not everyone knows how to wire a s plan or y plan heating system with the 2/3 ports.

im in the middle of designing a jig that has a captured forstner bit or auger for drilling joists the same depth and central its taking some time because i keep adding to it , once i have a prototype i will send one to nick to review and give me feed back

Like the way you don't pull cable a tight 90 degrees at joist holes... gentle curves, much better.../ How do you work the different heights, light sw. &. Room stat. ? Look better, same height...BUT regs
@stevegrimwood5109Ай бұрын
Be interested to see if the boxes needed chasing in for the dot and dab - From my experience, you chase them in 10mm and they're about 25mm too deep when the walls have been finished!!
@markrainford1219Ай бұрын
Yes, 12.5 board on 12.5 dabs and boxes chopped in 10mm works great. Just got make sure dry liners are not thick.

Please tell me why you are still feeding modern cooker supplies with 6mm cable when basic all electric cookers on full power can be 10.9kw over 47 amps
@johnwarwick410528 күн бұрын
ffs you have to have the back box the right way up for the writing😳😂😂 earth terminal always better at the bottom. Laser line for drilling joists, just follow the floor board above. There is being neat then there is just plain silly. Staple gun looks great was just thinking that would be easy to hit the cable then you hit the cable. I wonder how often that happens and gets left because nobody will know. Staple and nail guns glad I am retired from this game
@Dr.Stacker27 күн бұрын
On the finance side of things do your sparkys get a daily rate or a cut / % of the job?
@marklink6915Ай бұрын
I may be wrong but aren’t holes through joists supposed to be between 25% and 40% of the span of the joist

What I hate with earth lugs is when the bloody earth lug screw is missing. colleague is like 'regs say you don't have to earth the box'... Me: the time the cables will get damaged is when a customer or decorator removes the accessory live, and it will save their life. Even if they're not meant to do it, we ALL know they will
@bramcoteelectrical1088Ай бұрын
Good practice to earth boxes 😊I always do as a sparky. Otherwise your just relying on thr pattrous screw for earthing if you just earth the front socket plate

Still don't get why you in the UK don't put your wires in flexicon. It's impossible to make changes later or rewire in the future. No complaints on the work, you follow regs, for me it's just so weird :)
@sygad1Ай бұрын
Funny you should mention that, i've redone the entire house in conduit and flexi. Can make as many changes as I like now.
@markrainford1219Ай бұрын
That's why the cables are sheathed and flat, so you don't have to. Nothing except additional cost preventing you from doing so though.
@Danieel-ip6hgАй бұрын
@markrainford1219 I'm mainly thinking of putting flex tubes with single wire in them. Easy to replace and add wires.
