No one wants to pull away earlier, because everyone must be fast. Since they are in a championship race, they should be fast anyways; they used strategies, and pushed it at the end. It's an athletic race, so it shouldn't be entertaining.

Sit and kicks are really entertaining to me because it like matching a bunch of chest masters waiting to make a move, instead of watching guys hold on to a rabbit, even though fast races are more exciting to watch

At this pace, Knight should be able to drop a 53 on the last lap. He needs to work on his speed to have any chance against to top dogs

If knight wanted to run his 5k pace the entire time he would've been a minute and a half ahead of those guys.

Djantai Otorbaev honestly not really. people assume the rest of oregon is just as dominant as cheserek was. Not taking away from their talent, they’re great runners, but i wouldn’t give them the title “the best”

High schoolers sprint the first 400m, then fall back to a crawl. These guys and last olympics disgraceful 1500m final walk the first laps then decide to run 600m at the end of the race

getting really tired of constant "tactical" races. Diminishing the potential popularity of the sport and the event with these tactics. What other sport do you see the athletes not really trying till late in the competition?. Especially at a championship. Much less interesting for many of us to watch.

@lukethebaron5408
@lukethebaron5408 7 жыл бұрын
Eric Perry you obviously have never ran many 5ks, track and field is a sport that doesn't pander to viewers like football or soccer, plus those sports athletes can try because they get breaks, in running there are no breaks

ran Xcountry and 1 and 2 mile in high school as well as hand-full of road races in my youth and have watched tracked for years on youtube and other places. Calling it like i see it and giving an honest response that I think reflects a lot of other peoples view on this. I want to see the best performing at their best. Period. Really comes down to personal choice just saying I, and perhaps a lot of others, losing interest in watching distance running on track for this reason. Haven't they now removed 10K from Diamond League. Maybe more than 1 reason but have to think this might be part of it.

In truth, this "championship" race is little more than a qualifier, with the top 8 runners moving on to the actual big race, so they prefer to save their legs....the Syracuse runner probably was more than content to finish third, knowing he would move on. Something needs to change to avoid these kind of "tactical" races, they end up as jogs with sprints on the last lap. Not a true race in the spirit in which the distance is designed.
