One of those things that separate Good Coaches from Great. The one trick I know is from volleyball. A Good coach will watch a girl dive for a hit and go, “Man, she made a great attempt.” A Great coach will notice she dove, but intentionally came up short to avoid getting hit.

and she did...they didn't use the same defense they did against sc. she was guarding someone every time on defense, and made key steals, just sometimes you can't stop people making long 3s (as Alexis Morris, who had to defend Caitlin the game, can tell you)

@@mariettedorobis6967 what game were you watching? Iowa started the game in a zone. They put 2 on each post player. Caitlin was hiding in there and got exposed by Jasmine and Poa. Just left them wide open. They switched to a man and Jazz still lit her up. The whole team was exposed for being terrible defensively. I remember they left Poole open on one possession early in the first quarter. Nobody was within 15 ft.

@@nottoomuch87 well poole is a terrible shooter so that's not bad defense. it's like when people sag off the other iowa players to cover caitlin, it makes sense. caitlin isnt a bad defender, but they put her on the weakest offense to conserve her energy, and carson and poa were weak statistically until this game. iowa adjusted immediately when they saw lsu was hot, and they were able to cut it a few different times. they still got out shot, but that was more bc lsu had a really good shooting day, rather than iowa being bad on defense. they contested as best they could, and made a few key steals, as many as lsu made

Well Lobo you have to be out of your mind if you think a player can deliberately toss the ball behind her back and out of bounds like Caitlin Clark did and not receive a technical foul. It was clear Caitlin did it deliberately, you can see her eyes looking sneaky when you went into the huddle, she knew exactly what she was doing. Rebecca was favoring Clark and Iowa the entire game, but they loss and they loss big,

@@pitvipersports: Clark has not changed the game because of her range, she was shooting the same shots in her freshman year and led college ball in scoring, shooting the same shots in high school, South Carolina put Clark on the map, Iowa beating them is what brought attention to Clark, a mostly white seemingly conservative team beating a mostly black team. The lead-up to the games against South Carolina and LSU illustrates that the interest in Clark is a racially motivated one. If she comes out LGBQ or with a black boyfriend, then any interest in her will suddenly disappear. There are a number of players far better than Clark in College basketball. Remind you she came off the bench playing on two USA teams. She has not changed anything because of her range when other players are shooting a higher percentage from three-point than her, plays defense better, and she has no championship, Paige Beckers and others can shoot from the same range, their coaches are not going to allow them to shoot those shots. No good player will ever play with her and no player on the team with her will ever play in the WNBA.

Pay attention to how experienced Mulkey is. She sat her three starters that were in foul trouble the entire 2nd quarter. Unlike iowa they kept rotating them in ,even though they were in foul trouble. If iowa would had sat Cziano and Warnock the 2nd , they could have played the entire 4th

Yeah, Lisa Blunder's inability to design a team specific gameplan and make adjustments was just as exposed as Caitlin Clark's inability to play defense. I saw an interview with LSU assistant Joe Swartz, who said that the staff watched the Iowa vs S. Carolina game live then went back to the hotel and watched it again on film and then Mulkey and Starkey designed a gameplan to specifically stop Clark and to use Reese to draw fouls. Now that is coaching.
