That would be 7 at Marshall, 5 in the regular season and 2 in the NCAAs, 1 against Fordham and 1 against Clemson (even though the Clemson goal way offside) in 16 games. Thats 9 clean sheets, while beating 7 top 25 teams. He only gave up 2 goals last year at Monroe College in 18 games and won a JuCo National Title. Sweet {16} 4th Round of NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. Did anybody see upset coming Marshall Thundering Herd pulling off biggest win of tournament eliminating #1 overall seed Clemson Tigers by score 8-7 in sudden death penalty kicks of 8th round shootout. When Goalie made the save & winning kick sending Marshall into Quarter-Finals-Elite 8. 2nd time Clemson knocked out from NCAA Tournament. They lost as #2 seed vs Stanford Cardinal back 2019. Who else is going to be on upset alert anything can happen.

Anyone that has followed Marshall soccer over the past few years knew they could play with anyone. They are currently ranked 10 and have been as high as 8 this year, with wins over #22 FIU, #17 Charlotte, #12 Charlotte (2nd time) and #11 Kentucky. Marshall wasn't the most polished team on the pitch Thursday (Clemson has 16 4 star players and 9 top 100 recruits in their recruiting class) but for most of the game well over half of the game, 55% Marshall controlled the ball and the pace. And no goalie in the country was going to save the Max Schneider free kick at the 16 min mark 27 yards out.

Geaux Herd... Chris Grassie (University of Charleston HC - DII) was an amazing hire after Bob Gray retired in January of 2017. After 2 years of getting his players in and going 8-10-2 and 8-9-3 his 1st two years the last 2 have been crazy good. He and the team was 16-3-3 last year, drawing the 11 seed and making the Sweet 16 and this year in a shortened pandemic spring season he and the team are 10-2-3 with a birth in the Elite 8 and a PK win over #1 Clemson. Grassie has led Marshall to a 26-5-6 record over the past 2 seasons and Marshall has been in the Top 25 for 15 weeks straight, being high as 8th.

@@lam8138 Ive been watching Grassie ever since he was a GA at Marshall from 04-06. After 2 years at UC I knew Id love him as the Marshall coach. But I didn't think he would still be available when Marshall needed a coach though. I looked it up from 2012 to Jan 2017 there was 89 DI soccer HC changes. I don't know if anyone came looking at Grassie and he turned them down or not but I was thrilled that he was still there when Bob Gray retired.

Andy Fleming who done the Clemson Marshall game (Xavier HC) was horrid. He never said it but you could tell the way he called the game that he couldn't believe Marshall was actually in the game. And then he committed the sin of all sins and said something to the effect of "The boys from Morgantown". This wasn't just a slip of the tongue this was for some reason a slap to Marshall. And why do I believe that, because as the Xavier HC the last 10 years he has brought X to Huntington and Marshall 3 times. So he knows exactly where Marshall is.
