For those of you that follow Flo and all the other amazing wrestling platforms on social, I told y’all Vito was locked in and going to shock everyone at Nattys. This was after his loss to Latona earlier in the year so of course I caught all kind of shit. When the brackets came out, everyone was clowning me telling me he wasn’t on the same level with RBY and Fix. And he proved them right last night. He’s not on the same level, he’s above them. You try to wrestle tight and he’s going to make you pay. He exposed areas that so many others have been scared to do. I’m proud of him and to run through that murders row bracket like that, is legendary 🙏🏼.

I called this a few days ago for two reasons, first Vito beat Fix not that long ago in the World Team trials and second Fix is a great wrestler but very basic in folkstyle. RBY and Vito are both very creative and innovative on the mat and that is awful for Fix who is not that aggressive and tends to stall alot. Fix really should have gone up a weight class because his type of wrestling is perfect for a Real Woods type of wrestler. Plus now we get RBY vs Vito which should be fireworks in the finals! I can't wait to see that and Ramos tmw!

He not always one who torches guys. He seems to wrestle to the level of the guy he is wrestling. He guys he out skills he usually pulls away in the 3rd period. Guys on his level he wrestles conservative, he gets a lead and stalls. Those who take it to him, he falls apart like he did against Vito. He is not one who can come behind and win a match in the 3rd period. I do wonder if he is burnt out. Unfortunately he is at 61 kg for freestlye. I don't know if he can make 57. Too bad 61 is not in the Olympics. It's the same weight John Smith and Tom Brands won.

Everyone keeps saying he’s fast.. yeah, he’s fast. OK. But he’s no faster than RBY. This man has probably the best TECHNIQUE that i’ve seen from a folkstyle wrestler in a very long time. Not to mention he looks strong, and clearly long asht w the limbs, my god. absolutely insaaane hand fighting skills as well. Bet he’s good at greco. The way he can create separation with the collar tie.. Masterfully kept ruby’s shots at bay by creating that necessary separation. The type of guys that are just sooo tough to score on and handle in general.. Long guys btw..Worse than the short stocky guys who just try muscling imo. i just knew based off the way he was wrestling that he’d beat this guy. Vito man.. he’s the full package fr.

Daton Fix is an example of why John Smith has to go. Fix didn't improve at OSU during his 6 years there and actually regressed to 4th after 3 years of getting runnerup. He's not the only one. Smith pretty much ruined Chance Marstellar with stupid weight pulls when Chance was there. Plus OSU is losing young Voinovich, who didn't improve at OSU in 2 years. OSU needs a young coach with enthusiasm, skill, and the respect of today's hottest HS wrestlers. None of the HS kids today were even a glint in their daddy's eye when John was winning World Titles 30 years ago. OSU needs to bring in somebody like David Taylor, Kyle Dake, Jordan Burroughs, etc.

Fix just has not changed or improved his wrestling in 6 years. The same Meathead moves. The same lack of imagination. He would not have defeated RBY. Give up a reversal, riding time, back points, no take downs, take down defense need improvement because of his lack of strength. Meathead got whipped at his own game. Flat on his belly face down to end the match. Mr. Fix needs to work on his strength or go to State College to improve his wrestling skills. Fix is very good. Just needs to understand he is as predictable as a broken clock. And….Vito looked HUGE for 133. Or fix is small for that weight. Vito just man handled him. Because of Vito’s intelligence he will give RBY all he can handle.

His international experience and move up in weight class is all that was needed to dominate. That weight cut to 125lbs was his only enemy. Did he ever wrestle Lee? I don’t think so and I think Lee would’ve dominated him at all. All I can say is that I’m happy Vito proved me right this year. I’ve been a Cornell fan for too long and I love they are the only school with 2 4X time champs.

Lee teched him at Senior Nationals right after Lee won his first NCAA. Vito got the first takedown, then Lee teched him. Techs in Freestyle can happen super fast. Many good wrestles get teched. It's not as much of a sign of dominance as the tech in folkstyle. I would like to see Vito wrestle Lee now. If he can make the weight.

These refs fast on the trigger with stalling. I've seen a few bad stalling calls

They’re way too slow with it in high school and way too fast with it in college. They need to work to find a middle ground.

@@DonovanEdwardsEnjoyer it's about your reputation... if you have a bad tendency to stall they call you quick... and fix most assuredly does stall alot... hell they got o conner in the closing sequence of his semis match and he was def stalling... call it fast and often promote the action and punish those guys who are just hanging on... its all about the scrambles... make them happen and continue wrestling... I'm all for it

@@jamiehoward7941 I agree to an extent I just think certain calls like the one on Vito where he just gets sumo’d out are kind of ridiculous. Like give him a chance to defend himself at least, I’m all for promoting continuous action but I think they incentivize the ability for some guys to just bully somebody out of bounds too much sometimes without putting together any substantial offense.

@@DonovanEdwardsEnjoyer well they call stalling in that situation if you have been pushed out more than a few times... but in freestyle and Greco-Roman you actually get points for it... so to make the wrestling similar they hit you for stalling in that scenario... but yes the arijau one was questionable... but agian I defer to it promotes action... and some of these guys are eeking out 2 to 1 victories and stall the whole time... you have to circle back in... otherwise if you get repeatedly pushed out then you are stalling and using the outline as a safety zone... which it is not... you see guys in high school using that tactic alot.

I love Ok State … but Daton is okay with being “average” yes he’s ight against non elite but against big match wrestlers he’s most likely in trouble… I hope he can win it next year but I see low placing coming.. ok state is needing to fresh bounce back in the coming years…

Steroids couldn’t help fix this time i felt like Vito could beat him but. I had known this I wish fix would’ve still made the finals lost to rby then lose to Vito next year to become a 5x finalist

Being tall and lanky favors the wrestler in lower weight classes. Don’t forget Cody Brewer Edit: (lighter weight classes)
