OMG!! I thought he retired. As a Browns and Buckeyes fan, I've disliked him with extreme prejudice, but a huge shout out to T. Brady of UM for being 40th at the 6k split! 7 Super Bowl titles, hundreds of millions of dollars, supermodel wives, and he's Top 40 at the XC Championships.

I was there, watched it in person, saw everything happen, I'm born and raised Texan, and still, watching this broadcast- the way Greg Metcalf and previously, Pete Watson, have built that team from the home grown Texas boys is nothing short of astounding. Six, seven years ago you'd never have seen half the UT squad from this season make any statement near the level of prominence they had in HS, now they're bordering on podium contention- And that's after weathering a coaching change, too! Speaks volumes to the team culture down in Austin

Glad to see an American won. Impressive as it (Oklahoma State) might seem, their team is riddled w/African recruits (their top four runners). Kudos to BYU (third), whose team is composed of Americans...and Texas, whose team also is entirely composed of Americans, with six of them being from Texas high schools...that's impressive! They ought implement a rule...where cross country teams have to match every landed foreign recruit with a local state high school recruit.

Trash is a real exaggeration. I think he’s finished 4, 11, 2, 6 at nationals without looking it up. That’s a pretty good career

By a lot? Different athletes up front this year, different course. I don't see that he did obviously worse. Two of the guys who beat him he didn't race in the NCAA last year: Samuel and Kipngetich. He lost to Bosley, but Bosley is his dude, and he had no reason to surge ahead of Bosley. Ky Robinson is the NCAA champ in the 10k and arguably had a bad race last year. Graham Blanks beat everyone at Nuttycombe and had easily the greatest season of any man in Ivy League history. Nico didn't lose to anyone he shouldn't have lost to. I know we all think he's just going to win because, I dunno, reasons and stuff, but he ran fine.

@@machineofadreamHis achilles heel is he can't shift gears and drop the hammer late in the race. Has no kick at all. Just being real. He's a great runner and super highly conditioned, but in HS he could just run away from the field. He can't do that at the college, national, or international level. So he is reaching his ceiling in racing. Talent these days is just so deep and you have to have every tool in your arsenal to win these races. The no kick thing is a huge liability for Nico.
