You are right, they did a very superficial work, but this lyrics are hard to understand even for the italians that don't live in Campania😉

Do you have neapolitan ancestor maybe?😁 You know, in my country the dialects are very different from north to south and it depends from the various foreign dominations during 15 centuries after the fall of the roman empire, that influenced the way the population talk even nowadays. And we have a national language "only" from 1861, after the unity, but until the schooling was widespread in the whole italian population (and that happened after WW2), the people used only the dialect. Another factor that helped the italians to understand each other better was the diffusion of the radio and the television: during the 60's and the economic boom, much more people could afford to buy one of them, so listening every day a correct italian "bonded" this country together, at least from the linguistic point...but even nowadays, everyday, italians use their dialects or the vernacular like we do here in Tuscany.
