This is chapter 9 of NCERT History Class 6 Textbook titled Traders, Kings and Pilgrims where I have talked about the trade happening in ancient India during the era of mahajanpada. South India was famous for the trade of spices, gold, precious stones, pepper etc. Proof of trade with Roman Empire has also been found. Trades happened with land routes and sea routes both. An introduction to Chola, Chera and Pandya has been given. The founding of silk in China 7000 years has been discussed. Slowly silk was introduced around the world. The spread of Buddhism in the subcontinent has been discussed. Fa Xian and Xuan Zang visit to Indian subcontinent has been discussed. The spread of Bhakti in the subcontinent has been discussed.
