One of my favourite moments in Naruto is when the elders explain why Hiruzen' era was one of unprecedented peace. Explaining that Danzo was in the background killing anyone who got close to Konoha. It's a realism that speaks true to what the purpose of a ninja village would be.

Jiraiya and itachi had the same mission: Jiraiya said that he has a mole in the Akatsuki who most likely is itachi(anbu).Itachi before killing the Uchiha clan said to hiruzen that he will join akutsuki and spy on them, Then it is possible that jiraiya being an anbu is tasked by the 4th to work with itachi. After the death of hiruzen they rendezvoud to konoha. That girl who is under Itachi's gensutsu? She was handing out info and instructions to jiraiya. At the moment that they saw eye to eye, itachi even called jiraiya "master".( Why would itachi attempt to kindap Naruto when 9 tails should be the last to be sealed inside the gedo statue?)

Naruto would have been better if they decided to go back and tell these stories rather than foward with boruto. Imagine looking back a fugaku and minato's intend rivalry, or watching zabuza growin in the bloody midst. Or seeing the slow decent of loved shinobis into rogue ninjas or missing nins, or more of the exploits of remarkable clans and how they impacted the ninja world

I wish we got to see the ANBU live up to their reputation more, especially in the anime. There were a couple times they were shown being badass, but for the most part they were there just to lose, and make whatever threat more impressive because they defeated ANBU, except it became so repetitive that it didn’t mean anything, and a villain isn’t more threatening because they beat opponents that are really easy to beat. They even had the Konaha 12 (11?)defeat the ANBU, ninja who a fairly young and less experienced than the elite black ops are supposed to be. ANBU is cool in reputation and appearance, but unless they’re Kakashi, Yamato, or Itachi , they get nerfed pretty hard a lot of the time

I actually had a really interesting theory, I think the reason why Kabuto brought back all those ninja to fight against the allied Shinobi forces was to see all the villages have to kill Ninja that many of them had already knew. It was sort of like how he was essentially just a tool for all the villages to carry out their dirty work. Considering that he was tasked to kill essentially his own mother..... It's about one of the grimiest things you could ask someone to do. I think that honestly we could blame danzo for just about every single bad thing getting worse 😂
