This is the best video I've seen for good advice on oiling a Hammond Organ, but it would be helpful to have the same advice regarding the Leslie Speaker System. My organ is a 1963 L100 and 122 leslie Speaker, thanks.

Once a year you fill each funnel cup 3/4 full. I usually put in 10 drops in each cup. I do this on my Birthday to remember

That's right Danny. That is where the line is on those silver funnel cups - at the 3/4 point near the top of the cup.

I have a Hammond M3 I oiled it a few weeks ago today I was playing it and it started screeching so I added more oil I used sewing machine oil the guy I bought it from said that it’s the same oil

Should be ok, but I stick with the genuine Hammond oil to be on the safe side. Again, with TRUE singer sewing machine, you should be ok....but make sure it's CLEAR .

Dr. Kemp, Over the years I've been told that zoom spout oil will work in hammond organ. Has your thoughts change about this?

No Sir!! I ONLY use Hammond oil in my Hammond organs. In fact, I just bought two bottles last week. I keep a good supply of Zoom Spout as well but NEVER use it in my Hammond organs. They are far tooooo expensive to gum up with cheap oil. Blessings man.

I recently acquired an older (tube) Hammond C3; and was told the start switch was bad. Is there a better than 50% chance it's not the switch, but it needs oiling? The cabinet needs restoring; and I'll be watching video's on that too; as one says not to remove the old finish as it can be restored. I did not get a bench or the board on the back side of the organ. I also did not get a Leslie; but the Leslie switch is still attached to the organ. Notice the railroad private car on the left. That is mine; and the Hammond one day will be inside it; after both the railcar and the organ is refurbished.

It is possible that it could need both a switch and a good oiling.

I’m 17 and I just got an E-100. I notice a gnarly squeal at times with it - I assume it needs oiling?

Hey Dr. Kemp. I have been playing the piano for good while now, and was gifted a electric hammond for my birthday couple years back. I have yet to oil it but it came to my mind recently that I should look into it and learn how to and everything. After watch your video I looked at mine and saw that it looked nothing like that at all. The bottom section was kinda empty but contained some wires and a medium size box then some more wires. Please help in any way you can.

What type of organ do you have. The Hammond has to be oiled because it has a tonewheel generator that requires oil as well as a scanner.

im not exactly sure beside its an electric Hammond. Are there any ways to find out exactly what it is?

Look in the back and take the cover off. It may say somewhere inside the cabinet.

Some one said to oil the posts of the tone wheel. Is that necessary? If so, where does the oil go?

It should not hurt anything to do that. But I do what I demonstrated in the video and maybe the motor on the very end of the organ.

I have found in my town that it is hard to find this type of oil is there a comparable oil that will work or does it have to be Hammond oil?

Hi ! Thanks for the video..I bought a Hammond E 111 ,beautiful organ.but it plays wrong notes,,if I play a C note it actually produces an "A" tone ,,any Ideas what might cause this?? thanks ! Ive checked it with a tuner.

I would check the filter caps in the organs amplifier and replace those that are bad and see if that makes a difference. Be sure to replace it with one of the same uf.

True singer oil is good .but make sure it's CLEAR . Personally I stick with genuine stuff you can get at dealers like Tone Wheel General Hospital on line.

BS You can use any high quality sewing machine oil. I got this from top sources. Singer sewing machine oil, same bottle, same oil for 3 bucks is what I use.

I just communicated with another man two weeks ago who thought the same thing until he had to rebuild his scanner because odd oil had caused his scanner problems Dennis. This man is one of the nations top Hammond organ technicians and a rock n roll legend on the Hammond B3 organ. So you will continue to use whatever you wish - but I will continue to use Hammond Oil and tell my customers to do the same. Thanks for your comment.
