Good information, thanks. I have never had a bad time on an NCL cruise, including during embarkation from NYC. It always seems smooth and easy. I’ll be sailing on the Joy in October. I’m guessing it will be crowded. Still excited and looking forward to a great cruise.

Absolutely. It was still a great time. NYC isn’t awful but once you do Bayonne everything else seems slow.

You guys are officially the ONLY cruise-related You Tube channel that 1) Doesn't annoy the crap out of me and 2) doesn't click bait with the BIG NEON LETTERS THAT NEED TO HOOK YOU IN RIGHT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. I appreciate honesty over DRAMA. Also John, you didn't mention Main Dining Rooms? I've never been on NCL so I don't know if their MDR suck or not...just curious. And yes, humans make buffets gross.

Thanks for a very fair and honest review. We're going on the Joy in May because I wanted a slightly different itinerary than the usual Caribbean cruises out of Florida. 3 Days in Bermuda sounded super nice and different to the usual one day at a port cruises. We are going in the Haven so I hope and pray it won't be that claustrophobic.

Fair review, I was just on joy a couple weeks ago as well. We always get the vibe beach club pass so we don’t have to deal with crowds as much. They also have the absolute best bartenders there. I was on encore earlier this year and thought that was similarly crowded. They need to figure out how to crowd control around the pool and buffet especially.

Agreed. The flow of the ship isn’t great for that many people. I love those ships but it would be great with about 500-600 less people.

Thanks for the review, really appreciate your honesty. We recently sailed on the NCL Breakaway and will cruise on the Encore next February. The Breakaway had a crowded feel (during spring break)with many folks congregating in the same areas. Curious to see how the Encore layout differs and spreads out passengers. Thanks again! 🍺

Great video. Not gonna lie. I’m a little worried now, as I’m going on my first cruise ever on Joy in oct. 2024. We are however staying in the Haven. Hopefully that makes a difference.

I honestly only booked the haven for the fact that there would be less people. The idea of going on a cruise sounds amazing, but the crowds seem like less fun lol

I'm sailing her in April for the first time. I hate that ships are so crowded these days. I try not to think about it and I know they have to make some of their lost revenue back, but I do hate it. Thanks for the heads up. Hope there aren't many kids beginning of April :)

I feel the same way about buffets. I'm not a picky eater, but I don't enjoy having crowds of people hovering over the food and so many hands touching the serving utensils. I lose my appetite thinking about it.

check that latest stats from the cruise lines. Most are running over 100% We never cruise unless schools is in and do land vacation for holidays to smaller places. I was on Joy when it was at 72% end of Octomer. Going to do Panama Canal in the beginning of Dec. Be interesting to see how full it is. We came back from a 18 day middle east the begining of this year only had about 64%. Great review.

Thx Al. Prima and Viva are the new ships. They did not do well with guests and the next four will all be bigger. The next two are ten percent bigger and then the following are ten percent bigger than that. It’s mostly just a flow issue

I have never been on Joy. I was on Sky and I hated it. What's more is that I keep getting them confused. Going to the Getaway out of NY in early December. Never been to the NY cruise port.

Getaway will be great. NYC is hit or miss with the port.

We had a horrible experience in the joy and we were in the haven. Service was the worst we’ve ever had on any cruise and we are not demanding or picky about anything.
